A place of worship sealed up by the ancestors of Jesus has been discovered in the ancient heart of Jerusalem, frozen in time for nearly 3,000 years.
Carved into the rock near Temple Mount, the structure comprises eight rooms, containing an altar, a sacred standing stone, and presses for olive oil and wine.
And experts believe its destruction may have featured in the Bible, which describes how Hezekiah – one of Jesus' ancestors – smashed idolatrous places of worship.
This was one such place, according to Eli Shukron, exacavation director for the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), who dated it to Hezekiah's reign.
He said: 'The structure ceased to function during the 8th century BC, possibly as part of king Hezekiah's religious reform.
'According to the Bible, Hezekiah sought to centralise worship at the temple in Jerusalem, abolishing the ritual sites scattered across the kingdom.
'The Bible describes how, during the First Temple period, additional ritual sites operated outside the temple.
'It says two kings of Judah – Hezekiah and Josiah – implemented reforms to eliminate these sites and concentrate worship at the temple.'
Both kings are identified as paternal grandfathers of Jesus by the Gospel of Matthew.
Hezekiah's crackdown against pagan places of worship – or 'high places' – is described in the second book of Kings.
It recounts how he 'removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones' and 'did what was right in the eyes of the lord'.
Remarkably, the sacred standing stone at the site survived his onslaught.
Shukron called it 'the most dramatic and important find in the excavation'.
'This is what makes this place a cultic site,' he said.
'When we uncovered it, we found it standing in its place, with stones around it.
'The standing stone was covered with earth; it was preserved...

I really do find the content and theme of this article intriguing, though, that a secret shrine (hidden chambers)...

When I first read this article on DM (admittedly I had been dumpster-diving over there the night before the thread appeared), it seemed peculiar that the discovery had been repeatedly described in terms of Jesus' genealogy.
Why couldn't they just say 'Hezekiah'? Okay they did, but there's the theme of Jesus' lineage/ancestry woven throughout.

This is where I probably irk people just on general principle (LEPER is opposite of REPEL, then then again no it ain't), because when stuff like this gets my attention, I look at what is simply presented and how -- e.g. repetition, placement, timing, visual effects and so forth.
I suspect a lot of people would have 'eye roll' reactions to the statements (the claims put forward) and that would be that. But I'm not focusing on the truth or falsehood of the claims themselves, but like I said -- just the matter-of-fact-reality of what is displayed on the page and how.
Observations, not interpretations.
Another observation is that the Jesus' birth theme is kind of misplaced in time. If this article with its product placement had appeared during the "Christmas shopping season" when such topics are popular to publish because everyone's in the mood, the tangential Jesus' birth and ancestry messaging would make more sense.
Therefore, I find this all very interesting for the fact of its presentation at this particular time.
I care because I know Who is really writing the script, even or especially via human free will to choose this or that. (One neat trick.).
(BTW, obviously God doesn't drink because He's always asking someone to hold His beer, be it etymology 1 בִּירָה, or etymology 2 בִּירָה. Q.E.D.) 😉

There's a lot of 'subliminal product placement' going on as always, all in its time.
At this time on the other side of the pond, in leaping from Jerusalem to the DM and over to America...
People are anxiously awaiting and counting down until the "triumphal return"* of President Donald Trump. In some religious camps, there are concerns and warnings that boy those other people are trusting in man instead of God.
I suppose it depends on which man. Orange Man bad, Orange Man not to be slavishly followed, but the Established extinguished luminaries are to be believed because they come in the name of the Lord. Sure, okay.
That's the prevailing theory, anyway.
I'll just stick with the awareness of blue boxes for product placement.
*I didn't even have a chance yet to proofread and hit "post" when...
