An incumbent Democrat narrowly won re-election to the state’s highest court. But the Republican-controlled court is considering an unusual protest from her challenger that could flip the result.
Heath Clay, a city councilman in Summerfield, N.C., left the voting booth last fall feeling that this was the most secure election he had ever voted in, partly because of a North Carolina law that requires both in-person and mail-in voters to show proof of identity.
Mr. Clay, a registered Republican, had done just that. But then someone told him troubling news: Jefferson Griffin, a Republican candidate for the State Supreme Court, was trying to nullify more than 60,000 votes in his closely contested race, which three vote counts had already shown him to have lost. And Mr. Clay’s name was on the list.
“Anyone who is trying to invalidate my personal vote as fraudulent — that’s a direct attack on the voters,” said Mr. Clay, who voted for Judge Griffin, who now sits on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. “It’s inexcusable to contest these legal ballots. He’s a sore loser. It is what it is, whether it be by one vote, 100 votes or 1,000 votes. We have spoken.”
The State Board of Elections’s final count showsJustice Allison Riggs, the Democratic incumbent in the race, to be the winner, by a margin of 734 votes out of the more than 5.5 million ballots that were cast. But Judge Griffin, the North Carolina Republican Party and conservative election deniers have embarked on an extraordinary effort to wipe away that result, and throw out tens of thousands of ballots that were submitted by mail or in early voting.
Who those specific voters favored in the election hasn’t been determined yet. But statewide, early in-person votes were evenly split between the two candidates, while...

I’m sure of one thing, that the NYT article does not tell the whole story.

I wonder how many NYT readers vote in NC elections?
(heh... probably more than I realize... including a few dead ones.)
Eduardo Medina and Michael Wines didn’t get the memo explaining that no one believes their Gaslighting Horseplop any more.
One thing that NYTimes has never been accused of is telling the whole story.
They lie by omission at the very least!

Not Yet Truthful.
If you read the article (I know, I know) the Supreme Court threw out 60,000 "early, in-person" votes, one of which was the vote of one of the Republican candidates who won but has now "lost."
For the sake of argument let’s assume Mr. Clay’s vote is legitimate. Great! That makes 59,999 other votes still suspect. Does the article writers go down that road??? To echo other skeptics here, it’s the NYT. Honesty is not policy.
Well, when 60k plus ineligible people vote, there’s reason to be upset.
Leftists always hate it when their cheating and corruption is called out and investigated.
Riggs supposedly “won” after trailing by 10,000 votes at the end of election day as they kept counting and counting and counting for weeks afterwards. Not just Griffin but the state Republican party has challenged 60,000 of the ballots as being improperly counted. The State Supreme Court has issued a stay preventing the Democrat majority state election board from declaring Riggs the winner.
The racist NY Times is of course spinning furiously and trying to pretend there are no grounds to challenge these late ballots, but of course, there are.
Remember to take the opposite of what the slimes says and you will know the truth.
