Such neglect at the hands of DEI policies.

Cost of a run-of-a-mill new fire-truck is around $200k to $400k...depending upon options. So just having ten of the city fire-trucks in the maintenance yard...figures around $3-mil of assets with no use.

What hasn’t been laid out is the maintenance staff cut by the 2024 budget situation.

Global warming and Trump caused this.

I’ve read that L.A. (city? county?) promised firetrucks and firefighting equipment to Ukraine. Was it ever sent, or was it just grandstanding?

Reminds you of the buses sitting in the lots after Katrina. Of course that was a bi9t different...The Union bus drivers said “rescue is not in our contract”.

What an opportunity for a fantastic photo. Today’s term “viral.”

I remember 60 Minutes having a story on Anwar Sadat with the interview statements about Egypt’s military forces in full readiness and tanks can face any challenge and so on, at the same time as they showed video of slow moving shots of totally out of service tanks and trucks with parts missing and shell damage.

Yellow journalism but dramatic.

One more of the many coincidences that lead to death and destruction. Like dumb ass Biden sending the LA mayor to Ghana out of the hundreds of people he could have sent. Wake up people. Democrats created a situation that was bound to happen and WAS predicted.

NOPE.

The cost of a new FIRETRUCK is between $750K to $1 MILLION US dollars. This is a model that 4-5 people can ride in the cab.
I am involved in the group working on the purchase of a new tanker/pumper fire truck for my town in NH.
We have been putting $75K annually in a reserve fund for several years. We also got a federal grant. The balance will be bonded.

When we started looking at replacing our existing truck they were about $650K. Then $750. Now about $1MM.

<><>Newsom endangered the area now being affected by the raging wildfires.
<><>globe trotter LA Mayor Karen Bass also cut almost $20 million from the city’s budget
<><>Bass deliberately cut “fire services” for the current fiscal year.
<><>a leaked memo showed Bass had another $45 million cut in the works.

So LA junked millions of dollars worth of fire trucks. So what; there’s a whole lot to be grateful for.

LA wildfires caused the loss of a lot of buildings, businesses, thousands of pricey mansions, historic enclaves, 23 dead citizens, men who know how to fight fires, billions in tax revenue.

But on the bright side, it gained a lot of lesbian fire chiefs being paid 6-figure salaries, plus perks.

The LA/FD lost a lot but its DEI hires know how to actively pursue diversity, inclusion, and all that important pronoun stuff.

They now have a Mayor, an honorary citizen of a Third World country, who is the most hated person on the planet, and a Governor who’s looking for a job.

Got a flashback to Hurricane Katrina and the buses.

And Jethro Bodine Bush saying, “Brownie is doing a helluva of job.”

LONG PAST TIME FOR A BUNCH OF THESE “PEOPLE” TO GO TO JAIL...FOR A LOOOONNNGGG TIME. Sadly, given the CORRUPTION in the “JUST US” system IN MAJORITY STATES, THE VICTIMS OF THIS DISASTER WILL NOT BE MADE WHOLE AGAIN!
What’s doubly “SAD” is that a pathetic majority of these victims are DEMOCRATS/LEFTISTS put these DEMOCRATS & THEIR “BUDS” IN POWER.
“HOIST ON THEIR OWEN PETARD” COMES TO my DEMENTED, CONSERVATIVE MIND!

Yes, my city bought a new one last year, $800,000 and that was reusing the various equipment that was on the old truck.

You have not bought a fire truck lately, The start at a cool million fully equipped and go up from there. $250,000 for an ambulance.
