Who started the Pacific Palisades Fire? Haunting new theory suggests New Year's Eve revelers could be to blame

A shocking analysis has found that the devastating Palisades Fire in Los Angeles may have been started by the rekindling of a New Year's Eve blaze.

Evidence reviewed by The Washington Post suggests that the Palisades inferno was ignited in the same spot where fire crews put out flames a week before - and residents claim their response the second time was much slower.

The Palisades Fire - the largest of the three blazes ripping through Los Angeles -ignited on January 7 and has scorched 23,713 acres and is only 13 per cent contained as of Sunday.

A week before that blaze broke out, firefighters were called to the Pacific Palisades shortly after midnight on New Year's Day to a small brush fire residents claim was started by fireworks.

The blaze, called the Lachman Fire, was held at eight acres and reported contained at 4:46 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Satellite imagery obtained by the Post identified a burn scar of the New Year's Eve fire. Additional imagery taken on Tuesday when the Palisades Fire broke out indicates that the origin of the smoke overlapped with the burn scar.

The bombshell evidence comes as the death toll rose to 24 and locals were warned to brace for 'life-threatening' winds which could spur on the fires.

'The general duration of this is not looking good,' meteorologist Rose Schoenfield warned.

The weather is expected to contribute to another stint of dangerous and potentially extreme fire conditions which could exacerbate the fires already burning and cause more new ones to pop up.

Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said: 'It's very important that the community understands that these wind events are coming.'

These conditions have prompted a red flag warning until 6pm Wednesday.

The big fire that almost burned the city of Redding, CA to the ground was caused by the safety chains of a trailer dragging on the ground and causing a spark.

The real problem was it started the brush on PUBLIC lands. Then by the time they had a meeting and decided whether to put the fire out it had grown to thousands of acres.

As opposed to a private timber owner who who have put up a helicopter to spot the flames. Then dropped off crews to put the fire out the same day. Therefore, limiting the destruction of their crop lands (TREES).

Even if the fire started on January 8th, house sales made on the first of January or December 31 would not have settled, so the market value on January 1st would be less than lot value.

It appears getting a job at The Department of Water & Power is pretty lucrative.

I can understand the Chief Pilot at the Port of LA is a very important and specialized job.

Just think what these people get in retirement pensions too.

Forty years ago people that took a job with the government either state or federal did it because of the job security. Meaning they usually did not pay close to what you made in the private sector. That has all changed. Now, there are LIFEGUARDS in California making the same amount or more than people in finance and Wall Street.

Then when they retire they still get 80% of what they made when they were working.
This is why so many of the US states are going bankrupt. I spoke to my local NH state rep yesterday. He is on the finance committee. He said that they need to make state budget cuts of 500 Million dollars from somewhere to balance the NH state fiscal budget.

Somebody riding an old dirt bike with no spark arrestor in the exhaust pipe? A spark arrester is a device that’s installed in the exhaust pipe of a vehicle or engine to prevent flammable particles from being emitted and causing a fire.

Like John Kerry said. Of course those important people need private jets, multiple massive mansions, and huge yachts in the Medd and Caribbean . Saving the planet is a lot of hard work. It requires luxury to relax from the strain of such awesome responsibilities. They buy their climate indulgences from the Holy Goreacle to make up for it.
