Rocket launcher, RPGs ‘likely’ bound for Mexican cartels seized at Arizona border

Border officers in Arizona recently seized a rocket launcher and two rocket-propelled grenades they say were “likely” going to end up in the hands of the brutal Mexican cartels.

The weapons cache was concealed in a vehicle bound for Mexico and discovered by officers working at the port of entry in Nogales, AZ, on Dec. 28, according to Customs and Border Protection.

Nogales Port Director Michael Humphries wrote on X that “the cache was likely intended to protect the cartels and their fentanyl production labs in Mexico.”

The US Attorney’s Office in Arizona said that the weapons were inspected and found to be inert, according to AZ Family.

“The devices did not present a threat to the traveling public,” Humphries added.

The US Attorney’s office nor CBP responded to The Post’s requests for comment about whether any arrests were made.

Retired ATF Deputy Assistant Director Peter Forcelli told AZ Family that the Mexican cartels are often moving weapons south while smuggling humans and drugs north. He expressed concern with the lax enforcement on both sides of the border.

So, is this due to private gun ownership and lax gun control in the US?

Who from our government was transporting these? Heavy gear like that can only be obtained by stealing it from the army or by our three letter agencies.

Yeah. Sure. They're rocket launchers. But they're not dangerous.

With all the ManPads Gadaffi had, one wonders how many made it to terrorsts within our borders. With the “new and improved” approaches to airports supposedly for “climate change” purposes, they fly low and slow like ducks in a row.

My money’s on stolen from the military. There’ve been stories these past few years about the presence of gangs in all branches of the military.

The launcher is not a danger to anyone unless it falls on their foot. The business end rpg of course if active could ruin your picnic in the park. I would love to buy a disarmed inert rpg for sentimental value, wonder if they’re still selling?

One shot rocket launcher tubes are easy to find.
A friend of mine used to bring one to Halloween parties.
Just an empty tube that can’t be reloaded.

Assuming they are US Armed forces, obtained from corrupt quartermaster or armory break-in?

They aren’t American weapons so who knows where they came from, if from a military base then there can’t be many armories that keep live enemy rocket launchers.

Coming FROM the US, into Mexico?

Everyone knows you can get RPGs and underbarrel grenades and launchers from unscrupulous FFLs at every gun show, childrens theme park, church, and Republican house in America! EVERYONE!
