US president-elect Donald Trump has pushed back his campaign pledge to end the war in Ukraine in “24 hours” to several months, in a shift European partners have interpreted as a sign that his administration will not immediately abandon support for Kyiv.

The incoming administration was also wary of comparisons being made with Joe Biden’s calamitous US withdrawal from Afghanistan, which was something the Trump camp would not like to see repeated in Ukraine, the official added.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who met Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort last week, has ruled out that Washington would “abandon” Ukraine.
“I don’t foresee a US disengagement,” she said in a news conference on Thursday, adding that Trump had proven capable of blending diplomacy with deterrence. “On peace, Trump may be someone who is moving forward towards a solution, but I don’t think that means abandoning Ukraine.”
Meloni said that Ukraine would have to receive concrete security guarantees as part of any potential diplomatic deal to end the active conflict.
“Security guarantees are fundamental if we actually aspire to have peace in Ukraine,” she said. “We all know that in the past Russia has violated the agreements that it has signed. Without security guarantees, we cannot have certainty that will not happen again.”

You underestimate what I did pick out. Trump SHOWED that he understands why the war began. That means he has cut through the Western Media and the ‘Intelligence Community’ and has actually gotten some REAL FACTS regarding the war.
And that is the first step to ending the war. As to what the final outcome is, anyone’s guess, but mine is some combination of the following:
1. All military aid to Ukraine ends.
2. Ukraine has elections (to get rid of Z-man).
3. Ukraine puts neutrality into their constitution (meaning never, ever, NATO)
4. Cease fire
5. The US agrees starts pulling back from front-line NATO countries (how far they pull back, who knows)
That would be the start...if the above doesn’t happen, the war continues and Russia’s gains increase.
I voted for Trump and trust his judgement.
“Europe’s the big cheerleader for this crap...let them deal with what will be left of Ukraine.”

I agree with you but somehow the U.S. always gets stuck paying most of the money, one way or another. Europe is only to happy to shift the burden to us being that we have lots of bases in Europe. Its a card they often play to their advantage.
Europe is always there for us, when she needs us.
Taiwan has benefited because they have learned that drones, which can be launched from dispersed locations, can be effective against a Chinese invasion.

Except that they’re now dealing with Trump. So at least the rebuilding for the first 4 years will not be coming out of our pockets.
Translation: The long term question is who will fund the re-development of Ukraine after the fighting ends? It's going to require a staggering amount of slush fund money for politicians and virtue-signaling videos of pitiful amounts of aid while the Ukrainians rebuild their country themselves on a shoestring budget.
That is what you are arguing for.
I’m not arguing for it. Just stating that Ukraine is going to demand lots money in exchange for agreeing to anything. Money is always a factor. Where it comes from and where it goes is, of course, the question. One thing you can be certain of is there will be no auditing or accountability.
BTTT
I agree. And there's no doubt as to who attacked who.
The single most important matter in this and pretty much all foreign policy is getting Tulsi Gabbard into place.
She’ll need about a month to purge narrative from raw intelligence.
This will have enormous impact. Firstly, Trump will get real information. Secondly, there will be no narrative-based leaks and no mind reading about who wants and who thinks what.
We will see a sharp transition to facts from satellite recon, and pretty much nothing else.
The danger of assassination of Trump and Gabbard has never been greater.
He is simply giving himself time to negotiate.
Ukraine isn't getting an inch of territory back. It won't be allowed to join NATO. Nor will there be a NATO military presence in what is left of it.
Funny how that is exactly Russia’s position, which isn’t surprising given your constant shilling for Putin here.
Here is what the Ukrainians counteroffer should be:
1. All Russian and North Korean troops leave Ukraine, including Crimea and restore its sovereignty based on agreed borders in 1991.
2. Russia pays Ukraine reparations for all damage done in the war.
3. Putin and his generals are prosecuted for the war crimes they have committed.
4. Ukraine, as a free and sovereign nation, can join whatever security pact they damn well please.
President Trump will trade sanctions relief in exchange for Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory during negotiations.
I have been saying all along that the communist Putin butt-kissers are going to be very disappointed when Trump doesn’t do what they claim he is.
Could happen.
Trump could also offer sanctions against China as a guarantee of Russian territorial integrity vs. Chinese claims to parts of the far east Russia.
”The official.” LOL We don’t have troops and bases in Ukraine, so this makes no sense. Then again, propaganda rarely does.
Yeah, I'll bet they feel bad about losing their puppet in the White Hospice.
Russia's GDP grew at 3.9% last year.
There is nothing left to sanction.
And, the sanction war is hurting us and Europe more than Russia.
