PETA has contacted former Today Show host Matt Lauer regarding alleged animal abuse taking place on his property in New Zealand. According to a news release by PETA, an undercover investigation into sheep farms in New Zealand has uncovered horrific practices at a property owned by Matt Lauer. The report details several alarming incidents, including stepping on thrashing sheep's necks and dragging them across the floor.
PETA also describes several grizzly practices, including sewing up injured sheep without any painkillers. "whipping, manhandling, and hitting sheep with objects, including a metal-tipped pole." The report also details alleged incidents where workers smashed a sheep's head into a wooden board.
The PETA report also contains a link to video footage of the atrocities.

PETA were coming on the dairy farms in Pennsylvania and causing problems. Some were getting jobs as undercover employees.
I’m surprised they didn’t disappear in the slurry of the manure pit. It’s like quicksand in there.
I know. It just seems ironic that one of the mobs favorite body dumping grounds is called “freshkills”

That’s what we were. A group of volunteers who got an animal shelter up and running. People need to know that the word “humane” has no real definition. Anyone can call themselves that.
People like PETA and Humane Society of the United States scam people who would like to help animals. Giving to your local anmal shelter is a better use of money. Even better, find out who runs that shelter and make sure they place as many animals as they can. Being a barn cat is not a bad life for a cat.

I guess there weren’t enough women available for him.
What do you think of the ASPCA?
I always thought that seemed to be the best of the national ones, but they have been embroiled in controversy too.
Last I heard they were OK but that can change as soon as a new board is put in place. Also these national orgs don’t have much to do with actual shelters. The only thing they provided us were videos we used at school presentations. IMO those videos were not particularly good.
Local giving is the way to go. You can visit your local shelter and see how they put your money to use.
Thanks.
We’ve always gotten our cats from a specific local shelter, and they do a great job (if you don’t count spoiling the critters rotten :-)
“Obviously PETA has never had experience trying to raise sheep. Dumbest animal out there.”
Another question is whether the practices PETA is complaining about illegal in New Zealand where they happened. Oh, turkeys are dumber.

Geez. Come on. They are shearing. I doubt it’s Lauer shearing. That work is usually contracted. Dealing with squirming, resistant sheep is like that.
I don’t think that shearer is stitching, and if he is, it isn’t that bad.
They don’t feel pain or deal with pain like us. My sheep lamb in February, usually in the cold rain. You can’t do that to a human baby. If we castrate with a knife and cut tails with a knife, they run away and show little difference. We have fly problems so we band their testicles and tails. Most go off and lay down after banding. It’s obviously more trying than cutting them.
I also run cattle. We rope a calf, drag it to the fire, cut off about 1/2-2/3 of the scrotum, pull the testicles, give them their shots, burn horn nubs if necessary, burn the brand, and tip or notch the ear according to the brand ID. Every one of those calves jump up and run away. Some, jump up and come back at you.
There is no man reading this who can have all that done to him, jump up and run away, or come back at me ready to fight.
Livestock process pain differently.
Furthermore, any excess stress causes your animals to lose weight or get sick. We don’t experience weight loss or illness of the stock after processing. That’s a strong indication it isn’t that stressful or painful.
I think if it hurts us, it hurts them. But, as you say, they may be programmed to process pain differently.
The title was amusing. His business people probably invested in the sheep ranch.
It was a funny movie- Gene Wilder drinking a bottle of Woolite when the sheep spurned him- Crazy, crazy stuff, lol!
