Weak and showing weakness every day. Wonder what the surviving Iran hostages are thinking today.
That said, must show respect to the dead, RIP.
Until the very last minute as Reagan was sworn in

January 20, 1981. Ted Koppel reports on the last minute efforts of president Jimmy Carter to secure the release of American hostages in Iran

Only because the Left controls history departments.
The hostage situation undid Carter’s presidency?
That’s a pretty passive participation view for this inept president. Typical
Did he not interfere with their leadership? Did he not throw his hands up and wait for Reagan to fix it? Even running against Reagan while he should have been fixing this
ABC News BS. They’re on their way out. The kids are NOT tuning in to this
These accounts from media sound like he was simply unlucky. Carter’s actions DIRECTLY contributed to those 444 days of American impotence.
That and mid-teens inflation.
Latest in a long line of screw ups by Mr. Carter as President.
The good news is Carter's non-stop failures brought us Reagan, one of our greatest Presidents.
Carter helped topple the Shah, got the hostage situation in return and STILL felt that he did the right thing in Iran.
Little Jimmy was in the same class of President as Woodrow Wilson, FDR and himself for damage to the Nation.
*Iran hostage crisis
*The Saving and Loan debacle
*Passing and signing the Community Reinvestment Act - which led directly to the fraud that fueled the crash of 2008
*Giving away the Panama Canal
and the thing that killed any chance at re-election - the Cuban Boatlift. That cost him all support in the South, his power base.
Carter was a trainwrexck....like any other Dem politician
That news was accompanied by video of the plane carrying them lifting off from the airport in Tehran. I watched it on TV and I can tell you which channel it was, ABC-7 in the Chicago TV market. That's how well I remember it.
The fact is, the Iranians were deathly afraid of Reagan and they had every reason to be. The American media and portrayed him as a warmonger who'd use the nuclear bomb at the drop of a hat. The media unwittingly played a role in helping Reagan and getting the hostages free at the same time.
The dummies in the legacy lamestream news media still haven't learned.
Malaise.
55 mph speed limit.
Gas lines.
68 degree thermostats.
I could go on….
his predecessor Richard Nixon...
I seem to remember a man named Gerald Ford.
Those Iranians are pikers, DOJ has held Jan 6th Americans twice as long.
45 years later and the world is still addicted to middle-east oil like a narcotic.
Hey V_Twin! Somebody is insulting your hero.
Carter was a horrible president. He took out a staunch U.S. ally in Iran and brought in the evil regime which is still there. He abandoned Taiwan in favor pf communist China. He gave away the Panama Canal. He has attempted to undermine presidents from both parties since he left office.
Good riddance.
Carter was undid when he shivved the Shah.
Carter’s legacy lives on with what Iran is today.
I didn’t pay attention to politics back then, so I don’t remember much about him other than OPEC, hostages, botched rescue, peace treaty and the Playboy interview. Billy Beer, Billy whizzing on the Alamo.
His presidency was undone well before then. People started to regret their vote for him within mere months of him assuming office.
His presidency was undone well before then. People started to regret their vote for him within mere months of him assuming office.
And Reagan’s landslide victory over Carter was NOT a surprise at all.
