Jimmy Carter’s melancholy fate was to be a largely derivative figure: He was a reaction against his elected predecessor and the precursor of his successor. Richard Nixon made Carter tempting; Carter made Ronald Reagan necessary.
The deceits and crimes of Nixon’s imperial presidency bred Carter’s pompous crusade against pomp. Carter proclaimed “I’ll never lie to you” while claiming that he was a “nuclear physicist.” He denied saying what a tape proved he said about Lyndon Johnson’s “lying, cheating and distorting the truth.”
Carter’s signature achievement, peace between Israel and Egypt, diminished the threat of another conventional Middle East war. In his post-presidency interventions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, however, his hostility toward Israel was proportional to his admiration for the terrorist Yasser Arafat. Here Carter was mostly harmless because the “peace process” was mostly chimeric.
But for President Gerald Ford’s debate blunder in 1976 — “There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe” — Carter probably would not have become president. He won 50.1 percent of the vote, lost the vote outside the South, and a switch of a total of 18,000 votes in Ohio — home of many of Eastern European origins — and Hawaii would have elected Ford (disregarding a faithless elector in Washington state).
Carter was the first non-incumbent elected from the South since the Civil War and the most conservative Democratic president since Grover Cleveland, which is why the liberal post-Watergate congressional Democrats would have despised him even if he had disguised his contempt for them. With airlines, he began the deregulation project inimical to progressives and excellent for the nation.
Candidate Carter proclaimed himself “optimistic about America’s third century” and promised “a government as good as the people.” As president,...

Jimmah Carter ——RIP
.
“Joey’10% Biden”-——you know The Thingy.
When this is the best thing that can be said about you upon your passing. "mostly chimeric"...
George Will is alive?
And does he understand that Barack Obama made Trump necessary?
And does he understand that Joe Biden made Trump necessary?
We are still living with Carter’s foreign policy legacy in Iran. A colossal mistake .
What we are living with is the policy blunders of the Dulles brothers from the early 1950’s when the CIA toppled the elected Iranian Government and put the Shah in power.
he never got it right in the Middle East having recommended the US recognize Hamas at one point. eek! as for the Israel-Egypt peace treaty, lucky he was dealing with Anwar Sadat who made him look good.
It sucks that the flag will be at half mast on Inauguration Day.
It never seemed to tire him, flying across the globe to gladhanding thugs, despots, and dictators. Trying to lend legitimacy to stolen elections and denying human rights abuses.
All libs seem to know is that he worked tirelessly for Habitat for Humanity (predatory/scam operation) when he really just showed up for some publicity shots.
So branduhn remains the worst living president.

...he DID light the fire!
Because Jimmy died before Biden became a former president, both of them will be able to claim that they spent their entire “former presidency” period as the number one worst president. This seems fitting to me.
Jimmy... The worst President ever... Until Joe Biden. Biden now comes in last with Jimmy standing on his shoulders up to his neck in sh*t!
Frig’ Will, the pompous liberal RINO!!
“Jimmy Carter was the president who made Ronald Reagan necessary”
Jimmy Carter was also the president who showed how to respond to the aggression of other countries, WITHOUT facing down towards World War 3, as the Neocons seems to enjoy doing at this point (until Russia resumes atmospheric nuclear testing, that is).
So, instead of send half of our ground weapons to the combat zone (well, maybe not quite half, but we won’t know until Hegseth does his AUDITS regarding Ukraine), Carter instead sent some defensive weapons there, but took OTHER MEASURES (with Reagan doing the same) that directly led to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The two BIG POLICIES were:
1. Drill-baby-drill (to drive down the price of oil, Russia’s only hard currency export at the time)
2. A MASSIVE arms build-up, even bigger than what Reagan ultimately did.
With those two in place, the countdown was set for the Soviet Union to COLLAPSE, which it did 10 years later, due in large part to super-low oil prices at that time.
“Frig’ Will, the pompous liberal RINO!!”
Go play with your baseball cards George. You are irrelevent and stand for mediocracy and faux intellectualism.
Jimmy Carter croaked, ok, he was a 100 years old.
He ran as a pro-life, born-again Christian, fundamentalist, a good-o-boy from the south.
When he became president, the sataic Carter, who deceived his protestant south and the pro-life voters, became a pro-abortion president.
Then he hammered some nails in some houses for the democrat habitat for humanity and became a saint and his pro-abortion record was ignored because he hammered some nails in democrat homes. God have mercy for his soul for supporting the murder of children in the womb.
Trump presidency was just too much for him. 😁
He was a much better person than he was a president.
