I never worked with a good one.
I have also been unimpressed by Chinese engineers.
I did work with some Russians who were very good.

Sounds the same as those who represented themselves as medical doctors. Those folks work in U.S. lab jobs now.

The “engineers” are taking coding jobs and may be working their way that way to prosperity through the ranks.

I've worked with H-1B visa workers in IT. It's a sham. Very few have the necessary skills and the rest are tribal in relation to the group.

Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Serbian, Hungarian, and Estonian Engineers, are the far best I've ever worked with. A few from Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Kenya, were pretty good as well.

The best packaging process engineers I've seen. Casepackers, high speed fillers, and wet product dryers for sure.

"...but they’re cheaper"

They aren't cheaper when you factor in government subsidies and welfare because Indians are great at drifting on welfare. One hired Indian programmer translates into 12 of his family members coming over and stealing evermore jobs from American and driving up the cost of everything as well ans the taxes to support the invasion.

The ones educated in America are good, especially those who grew up here. I work with an Indian guy with an Appalachian accent because he grew up here. He is really good. Played offensive line on his high school football team.

India has a large number of for profit colleges/universities and there is very little regulation regarding the quality of education those schools provide. It is likely that a significant percentage of the are diploma mills.

“A recent employability report has found that over 80 percent of engineers in India are unemployable as they lack the technological skills required by employers now”

Hell, the DEI executives running many of today’s companies will probably fire the US Engineers and hire these folks and wonder why the US can’t seem to compete with Japan. China and yes even India.

Anyone who think Indian Engineers are brilliant and that we need to import more has never worked with Indian Engineers.

“They” (tech companies) want to bring them over because they are cheaper. Full stop.

Then he’s American. Not Indian. I’m not German. My wife isn’t Irish. We’re American.

AFAIK, an H1B does not allow you to bring extended family as it does not give you permanent residence.

Countries that follow some form of German Engineering Education process seem to turn out pretty good engineers If your first two year’s engineering sciences program isn’t built to weed out weakness you don’t have much of an engineering program. Unfortunately, most faculty see teaching engineering sciences beneath them. What a shame. Some old line colleges of engineering taught undergrads all the math and chemistry within the college not farming that out. Those were good programs.
