If I remember correctly, cooking does next to nothing to prions.
Even if heat does destabilize the proteins, does that mean that the resulting byproducts would be safe for ingestion?

Unfortunately remembering mad cow disease cooking did not prevent the disease. The article is quite alarming. Pork sausage has featured in my Sunday gravy on a continuous basis.

The mRNA causes the proteins in the brain to not replicate (misfolded) as normal, which then spreads throughout the brain and the animal dies. Cooking at normal temperatures doesn’t destroy the misfolded proteins (prions) unless you can cook at 900°F for several hours.........
Uh no. I don’t think you can prevent twisted proteins through vaccination. Once a meat has prions, it can’t be eaten, I thik.

How are prions killed?
To destroy a prion it must be denatured to the point that it can no longer cause normal proteins to misfold. Sustained heat for several hours at extremely high temperatures (900°F and above) will reliably destroy a prion.
The real problem is that there is pork on the market that is no longer Gluten Free. Coupled with the fact that there are reports of lactose pork imbeds, many just can’t handle it any more.

I’ve always kept an eye on this because we spent time in the UK in the later 80s.
At least as far as Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD), Mad Cow, is concerned.
Meanwhile, there is the greatest return of Whooping cough in decades. It is affecting unvaccinated adults.
