Every time you reach for a coke, you could be losing 12 minutes of your life, scientists have claimed.
The worrying statistics were found in a study conducted by the University of Michigan which delved into just how much time certain processed foods take from your life.
Ultra-processed foods – which contain ingredients such as artificial colours and flavours, preservatives and emulsifiers – can be dangerous if not eaten in moderation.
And some favourites could end up costing you minutes of your life. A hot dog could shave off 36 minutes – and if you drink it with a coke, that’s another 12 minutes gone......
Which foods could shorten your life?
Hot dog – 36 minutes
Breakfast sandwich – 13 minutes
Eggs – 13 minutes
Coke – 12 minutes
Cheeseburgers – 9 minutes
Bacon – 6 minutes

It is also scientifically proven that each day you are alive takes a whole day off your lifespan.

Lol That’s right. Time waits for no one.
I drink a lot of Cokes. My life expectancy was 1200 years before I started.
That’s because it takes 12 minutes to drink a Coke.
Don’t know about the food clains, but I’ve lost about 10 minutes of my life reading this tripe — and I still found no indication of the names of the “scientists” (maybe some Democrat political scientists...) or whether the taxpayers’ paid for this wisdom.
These people think the mrna gene therapy shots are vaccines.
These people have had so many positions on eggs its ridiculous.
These people were the ones that pushed for non animal fats for cooking, and now we know all the different processed vegetable oils everyone switched to, that they promoted, are worse for you than beef tallow, lard, and butter.
So I will skip their dam advice.
So, if a bacon double cheeseburger is so bad, why am I still alive? I’ve eaten at least 200 of them in the last few years, then there are the eggs (at least a half-dozen a week), beer, soda, all kinds of the things that this list sez are going to kill me, yet here I am, healthy and ready to play.
In the same week, the JAMA had two studies about coffee. One study showed that drinking more than two cups per day caused stomach cancer, while the other study showed that more than two cups of coffee per day reduced the risk of colon cancer. I may have the results reversed, but the bottom line is that they don’t have a clue, and just keep on pumping out the fear porn.
The antidote to all this , as every fifth grader has learned for the last 6 decades or longer, is to eat your beans at every meal. They are good for your heart
I mix the two to neutralize the negative effects of each.
Egg or eggs probably 5-6 times a week, bacon at least half of those.
I ain’t skeered of these dweebs’ predictions.
Then I should be dead by now.
All these statistics....
My wife says something her math professor used to say: “Statistics means never having to say you’re certain”.
Rum and tequila
Some idiot sits down and figures this crap out wasting how much of their life ,LOL
“I’m a goner. I eat two or three every day.”
Same here. My sister (now 69) took to eating 2 eggs for breakfast about 40 years ago. Apparently, she was destined to live to 158 so her habit might knock that down to 90 or so...
;>)
What BS! If this was true some people I know would have had to die at birth.
“Scientists Reveal...”. Oh Horse Crap.
About 30 years ago I read the obituary of a local Bay Area businessman by the name of Frank LaLanne. He was about 97 years old.
Few had heard of him, and while he was a decent guy, and lived a long life, there was little noteworthy about him.
Certainly there was nothing in his obituary about an interest in fitness, diet, or taking steps to insure a long life. The only interesting thing: He was the older brother (by a few years) of fitness guru Jack LaLanne (who really WAS a pioneer in the fitness business), who survived him.
Jack died a few years later, at the age of 96. All that work, and his brother had a longer life span.
If this is true, I died in 1987.
I don’t believe it about eggs.
Coke and hot dogs, maybe.
But not real food.
