I keep getting emails with Nextdoor info. It looks like Twitter pretty much and it has my neighborhood correct but I wondered if there were any problems with it or if it might be handy to use.
Correct. The first thing the app will want to do is download your address book, for instance.
It was useful in the DC area for keeping up with local crime that wouldn’t make the news, and ways the county was planning on screwing us. Also for selling stuff. And yes, entertainment watching Karens scratch each other’s eyes out. I only used it with a browser and junk email address.
Now I live in the deep country where neighbors actually talk to each other and watch out for one another.
I was kicked off of it permanently for doing nothing more than telling the truth a few times.
Local moderators monitor content and users can report on each other if they feel your post is offensive in a myriad of ways.
The app originates out of San Francisco if that tells you anything.
DO NOT take your Free Republic mentality and belief in freedom of speech there.....if you do you’ll more than likely be banned as I was.
Never saw political posts on that site. Mostly lost/found pets, services wanted/offered garage sales etc. an online PennySaver I suppose best describes it.
pretty much garbage.
You can pick up some local gossip on police / fire calls and lost dog posting. That’s about it.
When your “service dog” attacks someone elses dog and gets four bullets in the brain pan you will probably complain loudly and bitterly.
“Never saw political posts on that site”
Because they get removed. Discussions are micromanaged and anything deemed offensive gets deleted.......it ain’t FR by any stretch.
“The site kicks conservatives off.”
See my post 23
My experience:
Just another sneaky way of getting Lefties to voice their twisted thinking.
I dropped out!!
I started to sign up. But, decided I didn’t want to provide all the personal information required to do so.
Been relentlessly receiving their emails for more than a year. But, I can’t access content without completing the application.
Can’t unsubscribe. Have tried to do so no less than 20+ times.
I actually wear getting kicked off as a badge of honor.
I want nothing more to do with an app that forces you to provide your real name and address and then restricts your free speech.
They are selective about their site’s rules for conservatives.
Have you tried marking it as spam...that worked for me.
Depends on your neighborhood. If you’ve got nice neighbors it’s useful for neighborhood news. If not...
It’s full of whiny leftists.
Nextdoor is worse than Facebook for banning posters. Like everyone says it’s full of Karens and advertisements. Your email inbox gets filled with 1/2 stories that make you want to open Nextdoor up. If you need an illegal to clean your yard or paint a room it the place to find them.
Happy to learn I made the right decision, v-twin.
Really not very useful or informative. OH, and then there’s people looking for handouts.
We have used Nextdoor to sell quite a few items, furniture, a few cars, tools etc. we also like reading some of the crazy comments for a good laugh.
In DC your leashed dog is the problem. All the off leash dogs are very friendly. They are good leftist dogs and wouldn’t harm a flea.
