Just to set the record straight, Ian Flemming's James Bond was never upper crust. He was a commander in the Royal Navy and lived on that pay. He saved enough money to purchase his Aston Martin dream car.

IMHO, the best hope for the series at this point would be retro prequels. Fleming’s Bond was a WWII vet. Go back and do films covering his service in the Special Boat Unit, or whatever, recruitment into SOE, etc. and then some early cold war stuff leading up to the original Dr. No.

For a long time there has been a distribution deal with MGM, I don’t know if they were involved with financing or not. Amazon will end up killing any chance for a new film due to their continued DEI crap. So that is fine, it had a great run and all things end like that sooner or later. There are about 25 or 26 good films out there to watch and the legacy will continue.
