President-elect Donald Trump sued the Des Moines Register and J. Ann Selzer for “brazen election interference” on Monday after the vaunted pollster’s wildly inaccurate prediction three days before the 2024 election that Vice President Kamala Harris would trounce her Republican opponent in Iowa.
Trump’s lawyers filed the suit seeking damages in state district court in Polk County, Iowa, claiming Selzer and the Des Moines-based outlet interfered in the election “in favor of” the Democratic nominee “through use of a leaked and manipulated” poll.
The Nov. 2 survey showed Trump, 78, lagging behind Harris, 60, by three percentage points, 47% to 44%, which spurred pundits and politicos to speculate the vice president would win a clean sweep in the 2024 contest, since Iowa went for Trump by nearly 10 percentage points in 2016 and around eight points in 2020.
“President Trump ultimately won Iowa by over thirteen points,” the lawsuit boasts, a 16-point swing from Selzer’s pre-election finding.
Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and other party operatives purportedly leaked the flawed findings hours before the Iowa poll dropped — a move that Trump’s legal team argued was done “for maximum ‘shock and awe’ political impact rather than accuracy or reliability” to do “as much harm to the electoral process as possible.”
Media allies also seized on Harris rocketing into the lead position — with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow praising Selzer as a “living bull’s-eye” for her predictive powers — but the famed pollster announced her retirement less than two weeks later.
“Selzer’s polling ‘miss’ was not an astonishing coincidence — it was intentional,” the suit states. “As President Trump observed: ‘She knew exactly what she was doing.'”

While they’re at it, they should go after Alan Lichtman and his stupid “Keys to the White House” methodology.
The media were pushing him HARD since July, saying he was basically always right in his predictions, trying to make Commila’s win look like a fate accompli.
Like the Iowa poll, these were all well-coordinated voter manipulation tactics designed to influence behavior. The tell is in how they were reported. Take any cross-section of 50 media outlets, and they’re all using the same buzzwords, with the same matter-of-fact statements, leaving readers/viewers with the same conclusions.
Here’s what likely happened:
1. Harris campaign was out of money, and so she needed a very quick boost.
2. Emails fly all around working on options and they come up with Iowa.
3. So they get this rigged poll done and show a HUGE shift to Harris.
4. Money pours in, campaign has money to for the last few days, not to mention the motivational effect for Dem voters.
5. Trump has the emails.
Now the Dems are in the same mess as ABC News - they will have to decide whether to settle, or lie about not having the emails (standard Deep State m.o., since they never get punished), or give Trump the goods and hope they get a friendly jury (what corporations generally due, so as to not go to jail).
Whoops...
Discovery may show emails between the pollster and some DC Democrat types giving instructions....
Let us see who was invited to the Partee....before we declare everyone innocent.
The best thing accomplished in the 2024 election is defeat of the mistaken premise that the talking heads are telling the truth. They’re not, and their audience resoundingly told them to go pound sand.
“Can the first amendment be weaponized?”
It has been for DECADES - the question is whether Trump can put an end to it.
“The lawsuit over a poll probably has little chance of success. The defendants would say ,,well , based on their polling methodology, these are the results they had. But the discovery process, of how this poll was produced, and why it was produced at the time, could reveal some things they don’t want to reveal.”
Here’s the thing - what if the Discovery process shows instructions to rig the results and by how much - lots of electronic communication these days? Trump already knows something or he wouldn’t waste his time worrying about a single poll in Iowa.
They put their ages in that article ... how is that relevant ...? Oh I forgot, he’s an old crank ... she’s full of joy and youthfulness ... gag me
These polling companies (and I do say companies) manipulate demographics to obtain results consistent with the groups that commission the polls. In Iowa, they would have to really play with the demographics to allow them to oversample democrats in a republican majority state. Bring on discovery!
They need every bit of filler they can get.
Everyone knows how old Trump is. I say never miss an opportunity to remind voters how old Commila is.
All the chyrons, official side-by-side coverage, etc. had her looking like a 40 year-old model. It’s amazing what a half-inch of makeup will do.
Yes, especially the communications the pollster had in the week before she issued the “poll”. And her financial account statements showing the deposit of the $payoff she received. When I heard the news coverage of the release of that poll, I said out loud - “who paid off who?” Now we can find out.
I hope this is a sign that Trump, once in office, is not going to be caught on defense, but is going to offensively mount a law-fare onslaught of his own. Let’s rock!
Easy to prove. Pritzger leaked it prior to the poll coming out. How did he know beforehand?
The smart assed bitch deserves to be convicted.
Well, he needs to go after Nate Silver - who ran the numbers 80,000 times right before the election and the results showed Kamala Harris winning the election.
This was a ploy to get Republicans to give up and not bother to stand in line to vote, or turn in their ballots b/c it “was all over anyway.”
“Last and final update: 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 5. Happy Election Day! At exactly midnight on Tuesday, we ran our simulation model for the final time in this election cycle. Out of 80,000 simulations, Kamala Harris won in 40,012 (50.015%) cases. She did not win in 39,988 simulations (49.985%).”
— The Silver Bullet
My guess is the discovery will be what they are after.
After the poll came out, I remember a nugget in a story (or maybe just a freeper’s comment) saying that the pollster had supposedly said, like a week or two before the poll came out, “I have a nasty surprise for that SOB coming the weekend before the election.” Does anyone else remember that? If Trump’s lawyers have the receipts on that, another quick settlement coming...
GOOD!!! Turn the tables and keep the lawfare going against the left wing!!!
I remember the goofballs posting it here as proof of that drunken ho’s momentum.
“ How much was she paid for this heinous act?”
Andy who paid her?
“ How much was she paid for this heinous act?”
And who paid her?
