Luigi Mangione is now in New York to face charges over the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4. Mangione has been formally charged in the murder, where he reportedly shot and killed Thompson in the early morning hours outside of the New York Hilton Midtown before an investor’s meeting. Thompson was shot multiple times with a suppressed, mostly 3D-printed firearm. He’s facing over a dozen state and federal charges regarding this crime. The latest federal charges make him eligible for the death penalty if convicted

I just don’t know what is going on. The shooter had a space between his eyebrows and Luigi had a unibrow when arrested. NOW he has the space between his eyebrows.
Something weird with all of his family connections and money - his disappearance, motive (?).
Everything can be a Federal crime. This should give any thinking person pause.
Look, if he is guilty in a fair trial with sufficient due process, I say put him away in prison.
Its not right to shoot a man in the back. I don’t see death penalty but put him away.
That Deep State has bigfooted this case should give everyone pause.
This likely wasn’t a murder.
It was a political assassination.
By Deep State.
This isn’t about the availability of the death penalty.
It’s about Deep State being able to control the case.
Lo! The left is now in favor of the death penalty. Didn’t see that coming. I mean I guess they put the OKC bomber on the fast track too. No one really ever got to talk to that guy either.
“and a firearms offense.” - would this be the silencer? Bet it is. Now why would one build a pistol, then go through all the paperwork to buy a can?
Oh, and why is that being, ahem, suppressed? Should they not be singing about this from the rooftops? Makes their purp even more scary.
But no, they don’t want anyone looking at that.
BTW, you thought guns were regulated? The paper trail on a suppressor is quite thorough. Or should be. If it’s not that is a major clue too.
Oh, and who goes to the trouble to make a pistol and doesn’t ditch it after the crime? This stinks to high heaven.
I copied to paste the same sentence that you did because I don’t understand why using a firearm to commit murder in NYC would be called a FEDERAL OFFENSE...certainly not all murders in NYC using a gun warrant a federal charge....
My view is that mostly it’s about a prominent man being shot on the Streets of New York in full view of cameras. The universal dissemination of that video all over the world is bad, bad, bad for NY City and the State of New York and the Progressive party.
New York is Tombstone
Deep State bigfooted this case for control.
Why does Deep State need to do that...
Why can the fire arm charge exist? I thought the SCOTUS in effeect outlawed state fire arm control laws.
There is no law upon which to make a charge
Because the Black man who would make the case is going to be thrown out to the wolves
New York no longer has unbiased reliable governmental law
Anytime a homemade gun is involved, the ATF has the lead, if they want it. Firearms w/o a serial # are a Fed issue.
The poor CEO's family.
Also, he (stupidly) transported the murder weapon across state lines, another Fed issue.
The closest thing to eternal life on this earth is a Federal death sentence.
Pre-meditated murder and justice demand as much.
A smart(er) fella. Put him to him to work on an online medical degree so that he can be a prison doc/nurse for the rest of his life. The fear of the chair will make him useful. Make his family pay for his medical education + incarceration. He may be made useful alive.
As a prison nurse/doc he can use his conjugal visits to spread his sperm amongst several women who want brainy kids. His family can provide for them. Just need to prove the psycho gene doesn’t run in the family.
Gary Lee Sampson was an American bank robber and later spree killer who killed three people and was sentenced to death by a federal jury in Massachusetts. Sampson was a Federal fugitive, who called the FBI in Boston and told them he was going to kill someone if they did not pick him up. It was Friday afternoon, and not only did the FBI not pick him up, they did not even call the local police.
Massachusetts has no death penalty, so the Feds took over, citing Federal authority in carjacking cases. Predictably, Sampson died a natural death in prison, 21 years after the crime he was sentenced to die for, ten years after his first death sentence and six years after the second death sentence.
The closest thing to eternal life on this earth is a Federal death sentence.
