Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy point to agencies Department of Government Efficiency will trim, get ‘deleted’

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are dropping hints about where the co-leads of President-elect Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will focus its efforts on trimming federal spending when the new administration takes over in January.

Musk, the wealthiest person in the world who is known for his ambitious goals, has set an aim to slash $2 trillion in federal spending under the initiative, while Ramaswamy, a billionaire in his own right, has said entire agencies will be “deleted” under DOGE’s recommendations.

FOX Business compiled a list of what the successful entrepreneurs see as opportunities for improvement – and what they say they won’t touch:

IRS: Simplifying U.S. tax code policy

“In 1955, there were less than 1.5 million words in the U.S. Tax Code. Today, there are more than 16 million words,” DOGE posted to its X account on Nov. 15. “Because of this complexity, Americans collectively spend 6.5 billion hours preparing and filing their taxes each year. This must be simplified.”

Department of Defense (DOD): The Pentagon’s chronic audit failing

Two days after the previously cited post, DOGE flagged that the Department of Defense had failed its 7th straight audit last month, noting that the DOD once again cannot fully account for its budget – which was $824 billion.

When Musk saw the news about the Pentagon’s latest failed audit, we wrote on X, “Sounds like a job for @DOGE!”

In a subsequent post, Ramaswamy noted that the Department of Education (DOE) just failed its third consecutive audit and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) “showed significant deficiencies.” He also threw red flags about AmericCorp’s budget, calling all the findings, “Utterly unacceptable” before adding, “Time for DOGE.”

Congress: $516B Authorized for expired programs

“In FY2024, U.S. Congress provided $516 billion to programs...

One trillion is 1000 billions. I’m betting they can trim a lot more than 2 trillion. Maintaining/leasing fed buildings in DC cost about 16 billion a year. Little by little, it’ll ad up.

Homeland by W was a knee jerk reaction to 911

True. DHS and the TSA security theater were to make people 'feel safe' and keep the airline and related industries from collapsing. But it was just more govt and more spending, with full "bipartisan" (rinos + democrats) support.

It used to be part of the Treasury Department because for certain of those items you need to have tax stamps. Yes, I understand the irony.

They were not law enforcement, they just were suppose to make sure people paid their federal taxes on those items.

It’s a beautiful song.
Annoying that it segues into Taxi Grab but it’s the only version with the lovely dancer.

DHS was created as reaction to the lack of information sharing & coordination that led to 9/11. Much of this was caused by the infamously incompetent but Hillary buddy Jamie Gorelick and her memo.

So, you solve a communication\coordination problem by sticking a massive bureaucracy in the way. Genuis!

Fylingdale Flyer

Through clear skies tracking lightly from far down the line
No fanfare, just a blip on the screen.
No quick conclusions now everything will be fine,
Short-circuit glitch and not what it seems.
Fylingdale Flyer you’re only half way there,
Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared.

On late shift, feeling drowsy eyes glued to the display.
Dead cert alert, lit match to the straw.
One last quick game of bowls we can still win the day.
Fail-safe; forget the things that you saw.
Fylingdale Flyer you’re only half way there,
Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared.

They checked the systems through and they read A-O.K.
Some tiny fuse has probably blown
Sit back; relax and soon it will just go away,
Keep your hands off that red telephone.
Fylingdale Flyer you’re only half way there,
Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared.
Fylingdale Flyer you’re only half way there,
Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared

DOE needs to go. It has accomplished very little. So do a lot of others but we have said this many times before. The key to real savings is to repeal the Congressional Budget act of 1974 and all of its kin. Return us to responsible and accountable Zero Base Budgeting and Presidential Impoundment or Sequester.

Getting rid of DOE is an excellent idea.

It has been used to hide black budget stuff by abusing the various very old Atomic Energy secrecy provisions in the law.

It would be amazing what would be found in that closet full of skeletons.

A lot of these extra people could be used for border patrol. Take the best qualified

and deport the leftovers to Ukraine as mercenaries. Let Z pay them. Russia will

take good care of them.

Russia should be careful about taking in Nork Commies. Might infect the Russian DNA. We probably have more socialists here than the Ruskies have.
