Ukraine's military leadership has replaced the commander overseeing defenses in the eastern Donetsk region where Russian forces are making swift advances, a military official said on Saturday.
General Oleksandr Tarnavskiy, 54, was appointed to head the operational and tactical group Donetsk, replacing General Oleksandr Lutsenko, the official at the General Staff told Reuters.
Lutsenko was criticized by Ukrainian military bloggers and some lawmakers for failing to stop Russian troops' relentless push toward the strategic Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk.
The battles around Pokrovsk, a key logistic hub for Ukrainian military and civilians in the eastern Donetsk region, come at a critical juncture of the war.
Ukraine is on the back foot on the battlefield as Russian troops advance at their fastest pace since the early days of Moscow's invasion in February 2022.
Last month President Volodymyr Zelenskiy replaced several other generals, saying changes were needed.

Could it be that Ukraine's Plan has been Trumped?
I don’t think replacing generals will save their rear ends.
If the Russians are indeed advancing faster, it could be a land grab before a ceasefire.
Still advancing in the East? How is that possible. This must be lies. Russia is being destroyed by drones and missiles. We are blowing up all of their infrastructure and getting ready to be ready to plan to be ready to execute the counterstrike which must terrify Russia as 300,000 highly trained NATO troops are ready to surge into the depths of Russia and like Napolean and Hitler overwhelm the Russians. Even moreso, it’s winter and the Russians will be taken totally by suprise.
The Russians are advancing fast in the east, and soon, they’ll hold some 20% of Ukraine. After almost 3 years, Russians keep advancing and taking the same 20% of Ukraine. Progress is measured by how much Russia keeps taking of the same 20% of Ukraine. At the rate the Russians have been advancing, they’ll have all of Ukraine by they year 3025, and Zelensky will be forced to negotiate then.
Yep.
—> soon, they’ll hold some 20% of Ukraine.
Almost as much as BlackRock has purchased
Nah, marcus the jokester put up yet more propaganda today only a few articles below this one :)
Ukraine is getting its ass kicked but from marcus’ threads...you’d think Russia is clinging desperately to the last 5 perdcent of it’s land that hasn’t been taken by Ukraine! :)
In the REAL WORLD marcus...Russia surpassed taking 25 percent of Ukraine a little ways back.
Oh, but ukraine does have kursk..which is 1/10 of 1 percent of Russia.
So they only have to take that much land 1,000 times and it’s over! :)

You may not have noticed that from your Bunker Deep In Zelensky's Rear, far away from the Front.
But Marcy leads us to believe only Pooty-Poo is firing Generals.
Fight to the last Ukie Male.
That will teach Pooty-Poo a lesson. {SAR}
That's not the word I'll use. The Russians are gaining territory incrementally in Ukraine. They've struggled and took horrendous casualties to capture towns like Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
They're fighting WWI style.
Before the war, Russia was supposed to be the 2nd best army in the war.
Now they're probably the 2nd best army in Ukraine.
World
OK, ... I posted this because it's the word Rooters Sewer Service used in the headline, and Ukraine supporters generally like Rooters because of Rooters pro Ukraine bias.
I addressed that in post #1.
Regardless of available historical references to previous wars, THIS war is a NEW War with New Weapons.
Both Ukraine and Russia Will Have To Adapt, and the pace will be set by those adaptations. Disinformation from either side will not change that.
Nor will Disinformation change the numbers.
Eventually, one of the Armies in Ukraine will no longer be able to fight.
I’m more concerned about the Children you infect.
Both Ukraine and Russia Will Have To Adapt, and the pace will be set by those adaptations.
Yes. But drones did not become common until later in the war.
On Day One, Russia had more planes, helicopters, tanks so they were supposed to seize Kyiv.
That didn't happen.
On Day One... things were different than they are now.
THIS article was written, my post of it for discussion, and YOUR replying comment, were all made today, more than One Thousand Days AFTER Day One.
You might try to Adapt.
And I responded to that under reply #13.
I mentioned that I did not agree with the phrasing of the article.
