Vladimir Putin has been alerted that Russian military personnel and equipment are now "stranded" in Syria following the dramatic downfall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
The dictator escaped Damascus over the weekend and was flown to Moscow at Putin's personal request. However, Anastasia Kashevarova, a Russian blogger known for her criticism of her country's military leadership - but not Putin himself - warned the President about the precarious situation left behind.
In a post on Telegram, she detailed: "Bashar al-Assad is in Moscow, and our military is stuck and blocked in Syria, Libya, Africa." She added: "Our bases have been completely blocked, no one is allowed in or out, all transportation routes have been cut off for now."

Negotiations are heating up among Russia, Turkey, Iran, and others over the tense situation in Syria, according to Kashevarova. She highlighted the precarious status of Russian military bases there: "The issue of Russia's military bases in Syria is open, if there was already a guarantee, then no one would shell them and our people could move freely."
She continued, discussing the dilemma of extracting Russian forces: "Then our stranded military could fly out of Khmeimim. And now the question of how to get them out of there by sea is being considered."
Kashevarova warned that losing Syria as a strategic point would severely impact Russia's influence in Africa and its position in the global energy market: "By losing Syria, including as a transportation hub, we lose access to Africa. Russia's withdrawal from Syria will give Turkey an opportunity to become a player in the European energy market."

The bases are not going to be secure. The rebels are just outside the airbase, firing into the air as Russian vehicles drive by. They have released drone surveillance footage showing the expensive Russian jets in easy range of any rebel who wants to take a shot.
Would it not be interesting if the Russians are still stranded in Syria by the end of January and Trump get s them out and safely home? That would be a diplomatic point for Trump and a bit of a black eye for Putin.
I dont see that anyone particularly wants Assad. I guess that some people would like to hang him, but not to the point of exchanging anything valuable for him.
A few rocket launchers or mortars would make those bases untenable. And apparently theres no actual infantry there, just ground crews, shipyard personnel, and the like.
Zelensky is the one that is going to bend over for Trump and accept any deal necessary to save his life so he can escape to one of his mansions elsewhere in the world.
There is nothing Trump could threaten Ukraine with, besides stopping aid. Ukraine isn’t going to stop defending itself even if the US cuts off aid. The rest of the world will continue to help whether we do or not. And they wont ever give up until Russia leaves with its tail between its legs. And it eventually will. I expect Trump to actually threaten Russia and not Ukraine, and all the Putin butt kissers here will be shocked when he does.
Not sure the Russians are not aligned with the winning faction from Turkey
Ukraine was the essence of the DNC’s war on Trump to begin with. The two attempts to impeach Trump had Ukrainian testimony and roots. Zelinski has campaigned for the DNC in the last week the election and bad mouthed Trump numerous times.
Zelinski is not going to like Trump one bit. With Biden upping the ante and escalations, Trump may just decide to cut off US Intelligence and targeting, withdraw the CIA, and let Ukraine get handouts from the Brits, Germans, French and Poles; no one else in NATO is going to help Ukraine in an EU war against Russia.
Once Kursk is finished, the cream of the Uke Army will be wiped out. Then it’s on to the 12-17 year olds, right?
We have no idea. Erdogans is the “winning faction” in Turkey, and he is aligned with his paymasters the Saudis. He may be using the Syrian bases as bargaining chips with Putin, but that is speculation.
Btw, Trump is good buddies with the Saudis.
One thing for sure, if he says the bases must go, there is nothing realistic the Russians can do about it.
It will be interesting to see which bases come under fire first - Russian or US. At this point, I wouldn’t put money on either side.
Do you mean the 600 military personnel left in Syria by President Trump because we were defending the Kurds who had worked well with us during the 2 Gulf Wars, including being poison gassed by Sadam Hussein, plus another 300 probable US Embassy and NGO personnel also stationed in Syria? Biden had the good sense to follow Trump’s lead to continue to protect the Kurds who have been our friends.
This evening Public TV reported on a new crime discovered about the Assads. This was manufacture and storage of large quantities of chemicals for the popular drug known as Capragon. It is a highly addictive drug, mostly containing amphetamine, sometimes called the “poor man’s cocaine.” Studies for recent years estimate the this annual trade as worth billions of dollars. It is believed to have served as an economic lifeline for the Assad regime since it has been crippled by American sanctions.
major drug manufacturing operation run by assad’s brother discovered in syria
The above link is the Google page for this newly discovered Syrian drug manufactory of Capragon. The large supply of raw materials found there for producing this drug can also be used to produce other forms of amphetamines and may have been stockpiled for this purpose. THe drug seems to be widely used in the Middle East. I wonder how popular it is in Russia? If not popular already, it might become more widespread if Putin succeeds in cracking down on the very popular use of Vodka as the poor Russian’s drug of choice.
The actual Google page link for this developing Assad drug dealing story is here below:
Typo on the drug find in Syria, should be Captagon.
LOL !!
>>>>Ukraine isn’t going to stop defending itself even if the US cuts off aid. The rest of the world will continue to help whether we do or not.<<<<
Let the “rest of the continue to help”. Ukraine is in Europe’s backyard, not ours.
>>>>And they wont ever give up until Russia leaves with its tail between its legs. And it eventually will.<<<<
This slavic civil war boils down to a war of attrition and who’s going to run out of fighters first? Certainly, not Russia.
>>>>I expect Trump to actually threaten Russia and not Ukraine, and all the Putin butt kissers here will be shocked when he does.<<<<
President Trump isn’t going to threaten Russia over a corrupt crap hole government/dictator who laundered money for the Bidens/democrats, came to the US and supported democrats during the last election cycle and spoke against him and his running mate.
