Elizabeth Warren outrageously sympathizes with UnitedHealthcare CEO killer: ‘People can only be pushed so far’

Sen. Elizabeth Warren outrageously sympathized with the killer of former UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson — and others who cheered the murderer on — claiming “people can only be pushed so far,” before condemning the violence.

“The visceral response from people across the country who feel cheated, ripped off, and threatened by the vile practices of their insurance companies should be a warning to everyone in the healthcare system,” Warren (D-Mass.) told the Huffington Post in an interview.

“Violence is never the answer, but people can only be pushed so far.”

In a subsequent statement, the Massachusetts senator added: “Violence is never the answer. Period. I should have been much clearer that there is never a justification for murder.”

Last Wednesday morning, a gunman shot Thompson, 50, in the back of his head outside a Sixth Avenue hotel.

UnitedHealthcare is the largest private health insurance provider in the US.;

Since then, authorities have apprehended tech whiz Luigi Mangione, 26, as the suspected assassin.

Investigators have speculated that Mangione may have had a grudge against the healthcare industry as evidenced by an X-ray photo on his X account and the fact that he had books involving chronic back pain on his Goodreads account reading list, sources previously told The Post.

Strikingly, an outcry of netizens has cheered the slaying of Thompson, ripping into the US healthcare system. This included former Washington Post media journalist Taylor Lorenz taking “joy” in the killing.

My Note: Unless you use expensive drugs or need to see a particular doctor fairly often, make a choice based on the hospitals that are in-network + deductible.

I don’t see an easy way to check which hospitals are in-network.

It is my understanding [verify if appropriate] that safety net hospitals [those used heavily by urban ‘rat voters] must be considered in-network.

Verify coverage is accepted by your likely hospitals [for home/work/shopping] before buying coverage.

Liz Warren is nearly as responsible as Obama, Pelosi, the FDA and HHS for our crappy, state-regulated, corrupt, welfare-cost-transferring health care mess

Maybe some angry college student will figure that out and go after her.

“spend some time speaking with patients from Canada, England, and Scotland (among other places). While far from perfect, our medical system is superior to all others.”

My former neighbor Sylvia is English.

Her mother got excellent care from the NHS.

Her father died of prostate cancer. He got appropriate hormone treatment (which may not be sufficient in itself).

I never heard Sylvia speak ill of the NHS.

My mother worked for Canadians. They let her know they thought the Canadian health system was better.

“our medical system is superior to all others”

Our doctors may be more talented (since Americans tend to be sicker than Europeans), but our system is twice as costly per capita as the Western European systems and is quite defective compared to those system.

I have yet to use Medicare even though it costs me over $2000/year. I haven’t heard Sylvia kvetch about Medicare. The main gripe of my Democratic neighbors with Medicare & Tricare is doctor availability.

The 28-year-old alleged killer would have aged off any plan his parents had at age 27.

There is the matter of advanced imaging for back pain.

An Internet search indicates to me that it is quite controversial.

I believe that “advanced imaging” means MRI or CT even now.

“Advanced imaging” would be in relation to standard X-rays.

It is my understanding that the newer machines are quite fast.

Personally, in my lay opinion, I think imaging coverage should be on an all the doctors prescribe basis (sans contrast agents and radioisotopes) if obtained off-hours at a plan in-network hospital. The operator and the machines are available 24/7/365 at hospitals.

Did Fauxcahontas vote for 0bamacare?
Then she is far more responsible for the healthcare insurance mess than the CEOs are.

I thought Obamacare was going to fix our healthcare insurance system.

If you are using the word 'fix' in the same sense as the word 'rig' then, yes, 0bamacare did fix healthcare insurance.

It took a mafiosa-like relationship between insurance companies and the government and injected it with super high doses of steroids.

I wonder if senator Warren believes the current narrative of Mangione and Brian Thompson as much as she believed her own story about being an Indian.

RE: mother got excellent care from the NHS…. I never heard Sylvia speak ill of the NHS.

So, do you think the USA should totally convert to an NHS model ala UK?

How much will this cost the average worker in taxes vs. the premiums we have to pay now?

Thanks, my FRiend, for the thoughtful post.

It's interesting that as poor and unresponsive the NH system is, there are some among my British cousins that take boastful pride that it is "free".

Some decades ago, when living (actually stationed) in England, a young woman confided in me the horrible wait times involved with NH.

Later, I happened to read a post (on a different forum) from a man who by all possible measures, suffered from a sleeping disorder. His appeal for a sleep test was denied, several times over. And his comment (from memory, but it's close) "the National Health works hard to find that you have nothing wrong with you".

“You can only push people so far”
It would seem that Pocahontas is identifying with Luigi and believes he’s justified.
Is she getting ready to shoot someone?
Has she already colluded with someone who tried to shoot somebody?
