The assassination of UnitedHealthcare executive Brian Thompson has triggered tasteless celebrations and bad taste support for the gunman who killed him.
Mr Thompson was shot outside the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan on Wednesday morning by a masked assassin, who remains on the run and whose motive has not been disclosed.
As news of the cold-blooded killing spread, thousands declared they were happy at news of the horrific killing of the 50 year-old father of two and even cooed over the murderer's apparent good looks.
The moderators of the r/medicine forum had to close a Reddit thread after news of Mr Thompson's death collected more than 500 replies, often critical of UnitedHealthcare. The top comment, from a nurse, was a lengthy parody of a template response denying pay-out for the victim.
'We understand that you were actively “bleeding out,” but this does not exempt you from exploring lower-cost care pathways,' the post said.
UnitedHealthcare, the biggest health insurer by market share in America, was rocked by protests over the alleged systematic denial of pay-outs to patients earlier this year.
Authorities found three live bullets and three spent casings at the scene, which they said had the words 'depose', 'deny' and 'defend' scrawled on them.
This drew comparison to the similarly titled 2010 book 'Delay, Deny, Defend' - a scathing criticism of 'why insurance companies don't pay out and what you can do about it' - and sparked wide speculation online.

you realize that even if they do find this guy, it will be worse trying to find a jury to convict him?
Perhaps some of that “energy” could be directed at Big Pharma and The Covidians.
The death toll via their hands is a whole lot higher. They could start with the big Fauxi....there’d be no tears shed....
As bad as the insurers are i think the medical establishment is corrupt through and through.
Just as contemptable, seems that few workers in the “health care” business even think about what they do or recommend. They just take what the CDC or FDA says and run with that.
Hospital workers follow protocol whether it is detrimental to the patient or not.
Who cares? The paycheck clears the bank and no one is held accountable.
I just read a blog post on the FB of a whacko lib that we know. She had 100 likes for her commentary to the effect that it was proper for this guy to have been killed. Who actually thinks that way?
Deny, defend, depose…sounds like an explanation for what happened and a warning to the others.
Commie dims speak. Usual diarrhea.
Next they will be shooting claim adjusters.
I reckon that insurance companies are seen as thieves today.
They take your money but you have to sue them to obtain the contracted coverage.
The health-insurance industry is ONLY operating within the hairball system of rules, regulations and state-directed cronyism that the likes of Obama and Pelosi, leftists/progressives in Congress, and particularly, bureaucrats in FDA and HHS, have created
WHY don’t people project their hate and violence on government?
What if these leftists had crappy health care like in Canada or the UK? Would they be happy?
There are a lot of people who cheat their insurance company as well. Honesty is in short supply in many areas.

Yes, and at the overall high cost of medical care, especially that provided by hospitals. Of course, the insurance people love those high costs.
Why was I billed around $10,000 for an hour in the hospital for cataract surgery? Why that crazy price since our wonderful insurers negotiate it down and then pay most of the rest?
“Deny, defend, depose…sounds like an explanation for what happened and a warning to the others.”
Yes I agree. There is more to come.
I have a very rare disorder. I despise the medical healthcare system in the US because of the amount of medical gaslighting I have been through.
HOWEVER, I am also thankful that there at a least a few surgeons in the United States who can operate on it. Some countries have no one. Some countries are far worse in taking care of patients. Years of waiting. Months to even get results of a scan. Months to even get the scan. Etc.
I will have to fight hard against the insurance industry to get my surgery covered since it is out of network. But at least there are a few people in the United States that are competent to handle the surgery and a few more that are at least competent to understand the issue even if it is too risky for them to operate.
No one deserves to be murdered because they run an insurance company.
Israel also has universal health care, and they don't seem to consider it crappy.
How Israel Got Universal Health Care 20 Years Ago, and Why It’s Working.
Disgusting.
Look, for whatever abuses Big Business might be involved in, and I am sure they are legion, the solution is NOT to murder the people running the companies. The solution in the civil arena is to create an environment of competition wherein bad actors will lose business. The ultimate solution is to submit to the authority of God’s Word, and a culture will be changed so that men will be ashamed to be dishonest.
The media would not be promoting this kind of thinking if someone had targeted a “journalist” and murdered them for dishonest coverage. Imagine the outcry if someone gunned down [insert the name of any given national news correspondent in the legacy media here] and people reacted with, “Well, it sure is bad to shoot someone to death, but we can totally understand because the media is so full of fake news.”
Absurd.
Wife and I have had UFC for years, no problems, they’ve covered everything they are supposed to cover.
“We understand that you were actively 'bleeding out', but this does not exempt you from exploring lower-cost care pathways.”
I think the “guy” might be a woman. Check the eyelashes. Also looks like a possible mask in the photo, which would change everything. PTB already know one way or the other.
