Health insurance companies have started removing images of their leadership teams from their websites following the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The 50-year-old was murdered on Wednesday morning when a masked gunman unloaded several rounds outside of the Hilton Hotel in Midtown, Manhattan.
Thompson was named UnitedHealthcare CEO in 2021 and earned a reported $10 million a year, and for several years prior he ran the Medicare business within UnitedHealthcare.
His company took down his image and other executives' photos on Wednesday, while CVS Health removed pictures of all of their top executives on Thursday.
Robert D'Amico, founder of Sierra One Consulting who has previously worked for the FBI, said the removal showed they had been listening to security experts.
D'Amico said: 'These companies are hearing what experts like me have been saying about how easy it is to identify and then find their executives.'
Glen Kucera, president of Enhanced Protection Services at security firm Allied Universal, added: 'I think there's going to be a lot of executives that are going to say, "Hey, you know, this could happen to me and we should really consider our security protocol going forward."'
D’Amico said he expects corporate boards of directors to reassess their security plans for executives.
That would include asking for assessments on how big a security detail to deploy while weighing the cost. He said people like Elon Musk have 20 people around them every day.

Who will protect them from Deep State...?
The response to this assassination has been shocking to me. Most people seem to be sort of shrugging it off.
HR jargon gone wild.
Funny how street justice can result in true crime prevention when other legal methods do not. I would never advocate violence or vigilantism, but I can’t help observing that it appears to be very quickly effective and productive. I always suspected that someday folks would have their fill and start going after the heads of these snakes.
Keep in mind United Healthcare has the highest deny rating (37%) of all Health Care companies.
We don’t know the motive yet. It seems to be targeted. At least he didn’t randomly kill dozens of people who didn’t have anything to do with it, whatever it is. They’ll catch the guy sooner or later if he’s still alive.
Liberals have gone off the deep state end. Hearing about this CEO could prompt more of these losers to repeat. They rejoice at this murder as it is.
“Keep in mind United Healthcare has the highest deny rating (37%) of all Health Care companies.”
Know what I would like to see? A comparison of resulting deaths and exacerbation of health issues because of these denials and delays. And not just United, but the denial/death/exacerbation ratio of each. Having a lower denial rate might actually have a higher percentage of resulting injury. Hard to compare the cause without the resulting effect to be accurate.
“Who will protect them from Deep State...?”
A lot of them are part of it.
I understand, there might be the other reason why he did it. But it still doesn’t negate the fact that there is a real true problem with the health insurance industry also now that it has been brought to light. Can’t put that toothpaste back in the tube because his motives were actually different.
In just a few days the press coverage has been many times greater for this than two assassination attempts on a former, and soon-to-be president. And there was zero sympathy by the press for the guy behind Trump that was killed.
Similar things happen in cities like Chicago all the time but based on media coverage, no one would know.
I am not minimizing this murder of the UHC exec at all, just pointing out the differences in reporting and follow up.
You have to ask yourself why.
How many people have seen "earned a reported $10 million a year", the photos of the nice home, snaps of family vacations in Europe, and then thought, "so that's where my premiums have been going, and why my claims are denied."
🤷
(Major insurers make drastic change as they ramp up security measures after brazen shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson)
Oh, they’re going to start paying claims?
(regarding the AI that rejects 90%, reportedly)
(Keep in mind United Healthcare has the highest deny rating (37%) of all Health Care companies.)
Oh...
37% of IN NETWORK claims
Who knows the out of network rate.
In some eyes the shooter is now a hero, someone who stepped up and did what they thought needed to be done.
C’mon maaan.
How are they supposed to own 3 jags, a marble tiled swimming pool on the their Florida winter getaways home and a private jet?
Maybe a lot of folks have had bad experiences with their insurers - and resent the guys who live lush lives, get all the health care they want/need, and also deny those who pay the salaries...
Yep. It’s not surprising so many on X are justifying murder. Murder is never ok. The rebellion against God is quickening in our society.
We need God to intervene and fix all this corruption. It;s not just about DOGE, its complete and utter evil and corruption everywhere you look.
