Fads...Bean sprouts, okra, avocados, yogurt...

Yogurt made a market by adding them to school lunches...avocados made a market because they are cheap and they created lotsa different recipes. I lived without them for 80 years...and lotsa calories...

All these health benefits would come to people if they were more honest about their weight.

Admit you are fat and you need to lose weight. Stop being distracted by fads.

Back in COVID early panic days, I went to my local grocery store. The entire frozen vegetable supply was gone with the exception of frozen okra, which was untouched. I found it amusing at the time.

If Okra says buy it, I buy it.

Maybe she’ll give me a car.

Nothing but a dumb ass does that. Roll it in cornmeal and fry it. Serve with fried catfish or beans and rice.

I thought fructose was bad for you, as in high-fructose corn syrup. Yet this stuff is being promoted as good for diabetics?

The poison is in the dosage. Even healthy foods, if eaten repetitively, can cause health problems. A varied diet is the best diet.

I’m happy to use it in gumbo or cornmealed and fried but mostly i just fry them whole in olive oil much as I would asparagus. Why would I want to merely get the ‘tea’ from it?

While it is beneficial for most people, okra water can cause allergic reactions in s who are not able to digest the high fructose levels in the vegetable, which is typically grown in tropical and subtropical regions.

Uh... do not consume things you are allergic to. Thank you captain obvious.

According to experts, okra can lead to severe gut problems in those with sensitivities and since it also contains oxalates – there is a high chance of developing kidney stones as well. Consuming too much okra water can interfere with blood-thinning medications due to its high vitamin K content.

Oh my heavens.

If you are in reasonable health it is fine. If your health is wonky check LIKE YOU WOULD BEFORE ADDING ANYTHING ELSE TO YOUR DIET.

Doctors suggest if you are not sure if the infused water will suit you, always try a smaller quantity first.

Really? And here I was going to drink five gallons at a sitting.

I give up. The world has become so stupid I can not take it any more.

I prefer to eat my okra fried, although I’ll also eat it with tomatoes.

Not sure that the fiber benefit comes through with okra water.

There are other sources of protein and fiber to help regulate blood sugar that sound much more advisable.

This fad will fade just like all the rest.

Okra water has very high concentrations of oxalate, which, as you know can be very poisonous in high concentrations. This is a fad that has no basis, and in my opinion will promote kidney stones in those people who are prone to them.

Read up on oxalate poisoning, which is fairly common in vegetarians, especially those that love to eat spinach by the handfuls along with munching on almonds and other nuts throughout the day
