Biden knew Trump had all the evidence about Burisma and this was to preempt Trump being able to do anything about it.

We all did, since FJB bragged about it in front of the CFR.

If he did that, it would only reinforce the fact that Biden and his DOJ were criminally wrong in their treatment of Political Prisoners.

But maybe Biden will pardon them and then pardon himself for said treatment.

My point is that lots of people will also complain when Trump pardons the J6ers. It’s important that the pardon power remains absolute and only decidable by the President, and that is the point I was trying to make.

To be clear, I don’t support Hunter or think that he particularly deserves a pardon (or at all). My point is that the pardon power is very specifically given to a single person at a time, and is unquestionable and unreviewable. We can and should complain (as others will when our side uses it) but I don’t like those suggesting that this can be reviewed or overruled by some court. It’s done and has to be done, since it’s an absolute power.

Just to make it clear, I don’t think Hunter deserved it. The point is that regardless of that, Biden (as the president) has the absolute and unquestionable right to do it, therefore all we can do is complain. It can’t be questioned in any legal manner by anyone, therefore we just need to complain and move on.

...I don’t like those suggesting that this can be reviewed or overruled by some court.

Then why are you addressing me and my sarcasm with an issue I never raised?

Read it again. You’re giving him an extra 30 days of get out of jail free cards.

This is why I disagree.

Hunter’s Pardon is unlimited in scope. Any and all crimes committed since 2014. So, if they find a dozen buried children’s corpses next week, under Hunter’s garden; we are to ignore it?

The fact that Hunter has been pardoned from all FEDERAL crimes, that he is currently convicted of - that’s within the President’s power. But, pardoning from crimes that haven’t come to light yet - that’s a blank check. He is still liable for all state, local and civil crimes; as the Pardon is only Federal in nature.

If Hunter’s Pardon goes unchallenged, then Trump has the right to pardon his entire administration from any and all crimes that they commit from Jan 20, 2025 through Jan 19, 2029. Turn-about is fair play.

We would both probably agree that this would be intolerable; but the precedent has been set - so it must be challenged. I’m not saying that Joe Biden cannot pardon his son. I’m not saying I agree or disagree with Joe’s intentions.

This is a time for the courts to place some limitations on this US Constitutionally granted power. I do not believe the founding fathers intended this power to exist without some limits.
