An art teacher at Bryant Middle School in southern Merced County, died last week of rabies.
It's presumed Leah Seneng got rabies from a bat that had entered her classroom.
Seneng told a friend that she noticed the bat in her classroom around mid-October.
According to the California Department of Public Health, one of the most common sources of rabies in humans is from bats.
The CDPH is warning the public not to handle bats, as bites often go unnoticed.
They also warn you to wash the affected areas if you touch a bat and to seek emergency care if bitten.
From what I have heard, it is 99.9% fatal but the vaccine is 99.9% effective.

Bats floppi g aroun in daylight are 99.99% possibility of being rabid.
Maybe she wanted to make bat soup. She looks like a weirdo.

That’s a moonbat, different species. Only acts rabid.
“the vaccine is 99.9% effective.”
If administered before onset of symptoms.

I don’t go around touchin’ any bats so I think I’m probably okay...
BTW, who touches bats for God’s sake?
Bad Bats.
Several years ago, I found my kids messing around with a bat in the day. They denied touching it but later said that when they petted it, it went “Grrrr.” They were around five years old. I killed the bat with a limb nearby and put it in a ziplock bag. We sent it off to the state for testing but they said that the individual who had killed the bat ruined the portion of the brain that they needed for testing. They all had to have rabies shots.
We had one get in through the chimney. Cats used to watch fireplace like it was a tv. Bats had a nest up there. We put a screen over the top and ended that.
I have done that a time or 3. I just try to avoid all animals these days. I heard, in the past, people used to get about 13 shots in the stomach. I don’t know that to be true or not, but I only had to get 4 shots, all in the arm.
That is how these were. Maybe 15 years ago.
“Maybe 15 years ago.”
Maybe 40 years ago.
