That article left me confused, not informed.
A dead mayor in a town of 2000 people who is accused of harassment by s council member. What is the signifigance to s guy elected with probably less than 1,000 votes
Me too.
No mention of his party affiliation. That usually means “democRat”.

Next question; Why do they need a Chief and \five\ officers for this town?
Methinks the significance would be found in the police force budget.
That’s a lot of turn-out gear and equipment for such a low population, let alone the payroll costs.
What do you think? Not a strategy for evading arrest. Perhaps a strategy for ending his life?
There is a Missouri Town called Macks Creek that used to be a terrible speed trap. They allegedly did all kinds of dirty stuff. The state of Missouri passed the law that regulated the amount of Revenue a city or Township can have from speeding tickets. From what I remember, reports said they did a lot of shady stuff to conceal revenues by listing speeding tickets under non-moving violations and such. They had a lot of police cars and extra equipment for an incredibly small town. It was all about the dollars and nothing to do with safety.
A town that size would typically have policing via county sheriff deputies.
Based on per capita numbers from this site, three cops for a town that size, not six, would be normal.
“without elaborating”
“without detailing what the investigation involved”
“blaming harassment by an unidentified council member”
Whatever happened to Who, What and Where?
But this story has gotten my attention.
And they all quit.
Sounds like sugar-daddy ran out of sugar for his ho’s
Suicidal mayor drives vehicle into front of 18 wheeler.
It is unfortunate that someone didn’t approach this guy with a screwdriver and offer to tighten the screw that he had loose.
I hope the driver of the semi is ok.
DITTO
There are no journalists in America
(365*24)/5=1752 hours per man with one officer on duty at all times.
The average for police numbers is around 500 residents per cop. Smaller towns likely need a higher number per resident for 24 hour staffing reasons
Southern justice????
Sounds like maybe the guy had a guilty conscience to run from a deputy.
