Trump envoy's warning that 'we're on the precipice of WW3'... and his plan to end Russia conflict: How Keith Kellogg has proposed giving Putin one fifth of Ukraine and forcing Zelensky in to talks with Moscow

The former US Army General tapped to be Donald Trump's special envoy to Ukraine and Russia warned last week 'we're on the precipice of World War III' as he outlined a plan to end the war by forcing both sides to the negotiating table.

Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, 80, told Fox News of the precarious geopolitical circumstances after Vladimir Putin launched a never-before-seen hypersonic missile on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

'When you look at what's happening... with an alliance that President Trump kept apart. You know, he had North Korea over here, he had China over here, he had Iran here and Russia over here.

'What you've seen now is they've all joined. You've got an axis together, and they're feeding off one another.'

-snip-

The retired general advocated for pushing Ukraine into ceasefire negotiations by threatening to pull US aid, while simultaneously telling Moscow that Washington would boost support to Kyiv should Putin not agree to a diplomatic solution.

Under Kellogg's plan, Ukraine would have to cede a considerable chunk of occupied territory to Russia and agree with Western countries not to attempt to join NATO for an extended period of time.

In return, the US would help Ukraine to develop a 'long-term security architecture' to reinforce its defensive capabilities for the future - and levies would be placed on Russian energy sales to pay for Ukraine's reconstruction.

Russia is only interested in a small part of the Ukraine known and the Donbas. It probably isn't even 1/5. It is Russian speaking and traditionally Russian territory since czarist times. Zelinsky wants to start WWIII over a spec of nothing.

With Trump back in the WH we can see some proper diplomacy and basic horse trading instead of Joe’s loudmouth jingoism!!

Don’t give Putin anything extra. Just draw the lines where they are right now and call a ceasefire and shut it down.

I was literally just talking to my son in law about this stuff.

He is currently deployed in Eastern Europe. He briefs the division commander every week about the status of our NATO partners…every week.

They are bored. He doesn’t see things getting excited, at least on the short term horizon.

Obviously, they are aware of a lot of the changes happening in Russia, Ukraine, and NATO.

None of the countries he deals with are close to moving towards a “war footing.”

A lot of these stories seem to be hyperbole from his perspective. Most of his peers are looking forward to going to Christmas markets from Vienna to Bavaria to Warsaw.

They seem to be waiting to see what happens in January.

Just two cents from the “ground” level.

Not true. In addition to demanding that Ukraine withdraw from the rest of Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk), Putin is demanding that they withdraw from the rest of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. In addition, he is also demanding the forced imposition of a pro-Russian government. In other words, he wants total surrender.

And as for Donbas, while it is majority Russian speaking, the majority of the population is ethnic Ukrainian. Nor was it traditionally Russian territory. It has traditionally been recognized as Ukrainian land and was formally recognized as such by Russia in 1918 and was so recognized under the Soviet Union, i.e., for the past 100 years.

We can "just" throw stuff against the wall, maybe bring in some magical unicorns - whatever - but NATO/US is not really dictating the terms. In fact, we kinda fk'd it all up.

That guys like Kellogg and Waltz have stopped wrecklessly shooting their mouths off should tell us something.

And they should keep their mouths shut - or nothing will happen "day 1" except more blackouts in Kiev.

I doubt the Russians, having spent so much boood and treasure, will be content with what they already have, they will want the full extent of the ethnic Russian provinces. The Ukraine and NATO lost, get over it.

Mother Russia will not survive the winter regardless of what happens on the battle field. President Trump will not be able to prevent the destruction unfolding within Russia at present

Thank you. Not sure what side you fall on, but reality is real.

Vlad just moved his border to the left a bit and made clear there'll be no NATO on Russia's western flank... i.e. Ukraine.

That's what he has right now. No reason to concede anything.

So you support wars of aggression? But please keep in mind, this is not over yet. It is hard to see how Russia can keep this up for another year. Do not count your chickens before they are hatched.

You call that a victory??? Putin has spent large amounts of treasure and materiel and lives, only to fail to take a single neighboring capital city, and demonstrating to the world that he cannot act without a US President giving him permission first (as Biden did in JAN 2022 with his "minor incursion" statement... Putin invaded 3 weeks later). Russia has shown the world how weak it is, and Biden happily kept the massive money-laundering scheme in Ukraine alive by shifting it to much larger and more-easily hidden "military spending". Russia hasn't won a thing, and doesn't even have the Crimean ports secured for his navy. The negotiations with Trump on what he will be allowed to have and keep are by far more important than the meager and expensive military gains he has struggled for in the last 3 years.
