I was preparing to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of McKinley on 9/14/1901, but then a major current event occurred three days before my commemoration, so I did not.

If I were a tinfoil guy, I would speculate that Leon was motivated to assassinate McKinley by progressives who wanted to see Teddy Roosevelt in the White House rather than the man the rich elites had chosen. Very unlikely, but Czolgosz’s act had very much unintended consequences.

P.S. With a name like Czolgosz, we can be sure he wasn’t a not-z, maybe a two-z who was a doozy.
