1) My windows 10 or now 11 did a windows update last night and somehow it completely lost Realtek audio so I no longer have sound. Tried downloading Realtek but no luck myself or a computer guy. Any suggestions, please.
2) Bought a new windows 11 and can't remember how to do anything. How do I put links to my favorite sites in a bar across the top of the screen so I don't have to search for them every time. There is no bar currently on the new computer.
3) I understand there is a way to get the old computer settings and whatnot transferred over to the new one but I don't think I ever registered it or it had any cloud hooey on it and I don't know a password to it but maybe it is somewhere.
4) Blah, why is my typing on FR is bold and can it be made regular typing? Sigh, I don't like changes except bringing back Trump.
I upgraded x-gf computer and no good deed goes unpunished.
Sound device had no 64bit drivers. And I spent hours on this. Even worse it ended up I had worked with the guy who wrote the original 32bit driver and he just laughed at me.
I bought a 5$ USB dongle
Wait! What? Windows 10? Windows 11? I’m still running Window 7! ;-)
if a man need to swim, he take swimming lessons...
is it plugged in?
If a boy need to drive, he doesnt go asking about it on the internet.
It magically started working, so however it did it I’m not questioning. But, yes, always a paper and pencil.
One day I’m going to go all Elvis on Edge.
Oh, no, that says something doesn’t it. My computer guy used to be the fix it man at a big computer place and he can’t stand MS. Says Lynx is the way to go as many FRiends do.
I primarily use Brave browser these days. There’s a bit of a learning curve, and some high security sites (such as some online payments) don’t like it, but, for the most part it works great and has not been too wanky. A plus if you like to take advantage of the huge music vid library on You Tube is that it kills the YT pop up ads, so vids play through without interruption, unless the poster inserted an ad themselves (rare with music vids).
Lucky you. I liked the older ones best. Can’t play the old games on the new ones.
Making note for when it happens again. Thanks.
TY
I learned to swim just growing up on the river and there was no such thing as the internet when I hoped in front of the steering wheel in grandpa’s old 1950s pickup truck. The transmission would have welcomed me looking on the internet.
yep
That IS good to know. The ads there are getting quite annoying.
then how come you dont know how to use a computer
New computer needing help
Great..now we have computers joing FR. I bet they’re smarter than us :)
JK...you mentioned bold...your text is not appearing in bold to us.
I hope you got some answers in the post and good luck!
Not a very good personal computer, if it takes so many people to help one use it.
“Personal computer” definition:
A device which needs a team of experts to run, and which when on the Internet, can be probed, altered, and rendered useless by entities other than the owner. “personal computer”...modern day oxymoron.
When asking for help, always give more information you think you should.
What browser?
How do you know you need Reltek sound?
