A dog mauled its owner to death at her home in Boston, Massachusetts, on Monday before attacking police, NBC10 Boston reported.
Police identified the woman as 73-year-old Jeriline Brady-McGinnis.
Her husband was also badly injured during the attack, but is expected to survive.
Civil rights leader Jean McGuire, the couple’s landlord, lives above their apartment.
“She’s a wonderful person,” McGuire said about Brady-McGinnis. “She was generous and kind, always thinking of other people … We all miss Jeri. You don’t want anything horrible to happen to anybody, anywhere. She was a wonderful mother and a fine person, very respected.”
When police responded to the call that afternoon, they arrived to find the owners badly mauled.
While providing aid, the dog — a pit bull mix named “Deuce” — bit both officers, forcing them to shoot it, The Boston Globe reported.

No, by definition it’s only a bad dog that would turn on you and kill you.
Although known for ankle biting, never heard of a chihuahua killing someone.
I don’t think we have much to worry about with our 18 pound Goldendoodle, either. You could get licked to death, though.
Excellent!
Yep, Pitbulls are loving, loyal dogs that would never hurt a fly. Until suddenly, they do. The results are often horrific, and people are baffled how sweet little Deuce could kill his owner, as if these sort of things never happen with Pitbulls.
A year ago our daughter tried to separate her two dogs who were fighting. She managed to get each one into his/her kennel. Then she went to lie down and realized she was bleeding profusely. She couldn’t find her phone. She went next door and collapsed. Her neighbor got her to the IR and she ended up spending two weeks in the hospital. She had to put down the dog who was the aggressor and whom she had had and loved for 11 years. All very sad. But when they were stitching her up she coded. It literally changed her life. She’s now divorced and has a new job and is in therapy. She seems to be doing well.
One more time:
One Pit Bull
One 9mm
Problem solved
What was up with the weird callout for the landlord?
You sure you don’t mean “Expiring”?
I have always wondered why an animal shelter couldn’t be sued if one of its adopted pit bull injures or kills someone. They have to know the risk involved. They could make the new owner waive any liability but that wouldn’t protect them from some other party who didn’t sign the waiver.
Best dog I ever had was my Lab Lucy. Sweet is can be. They’re no so good as guard dogs and she walked up to every person she ever saw, tail wagging, wanting to be friends

We have a 21lb French Bulldog that’s 10 months old. Wife’s idea, not mine. Frenchies fit in that category too.
I’m sticking with Labrador Retrievers. I don’t have to worry about our two trying to kill us.

Labs? Their tails are stealth weapons. Seen one clear off a coffee table with that tail.
Labs are great dogs.
“Best dog I ever had was my Lab Lucy.”
Agree about the Black Labs. They really are party dogs.
I have relatives who raise Pit Bulls. They are precious, lovable and spoiled babies. But when my relatives receive visitors to their home, the muzzles are used, just to be safe.
My cousins are very responsible and loving Pit Bull parents.
You can always tell from the headline what kind of dog would do such a thing. Yet they only want to ban guns.
He was “aspiring” to be “inspiring.”
Stop it. I’m getting misty.
