Trump promises 'no retribution' when he enters the White House... but does reveal where he draws the line

Donald Trump promised he's 'not looking for retribution' when he enters the White House in January despite vowing to throw his enemies in jail on the campaign trail.

Despite the assurance, however, Trump pointed out he 'obviously' has the 'upper hand' and declared that he would draw the line after a certain amount of betrayal.

'I am not looking for retribution, grandstanding or to destroy people who treated me very unfairly, or even badly beyond comprehension,' he told Fox News Digital.

'I am always looking to give a second and even third chance, but never willing to give a fourth chance — that is where I hold the line.'

He didn't get more specific but did add he 'obviously' has 'the upper hand at this moment.'

Many of Trump's critics are worried they'll be subject to retribution after he takes the oath of office. Trump, during his presidential campaign, was vocal when it came to what he thought of those he considered 'enemies.'

Some of them include Republicans who were vocal in supporting Kamala Harris. Others are career government officials who angered the former president.

Olivia Troye, a former Trump administration official who denounced him in a speech at the Democratic convention in August, is one of them.

'I'm worried that I'll be targeted by him and a lot of people in his circle,' she told NBC News. 'They very much know who I am. And I'm concerned for my family.'

She's not the only person at risk.

Trump's transition team is putting together a list of senior current and former military officers who were directly involved in the withdrawal from Afghanistan and exploring whether they could be court-martialed for their actions, NBC News reported.

Forget retribution. But is someone broke the law and or deprived another of his rights under color of authority…

The reason nuclear weapons were never used between the USSR and the US from the 60’s to today was the threat of mutually assured destruction.

The reason the left is free to engage in lawfare against the right is because there is no threat of mutually assured destruction.

The left needs to start fearing the spotlight and the full weight of the bureaucratic state coming down on them so that they will think twice before throwing another political enemy in jail.

FR is totally the wrong place to ask this question because most of us will say that we must “fight fire with fire”, but is there any practical reason for Trump, or anyone else for that matter, to have such a policy as this?

Exactly.

But although they are still in huddles, we know full well that they will paint it as ‘retribution’.

Come on, Donald. We voted for retribution, of a kind that generations will talk about it.

These corrupt Democrats and spineless RINOs who have betrayed the people who voted fur them by selling their souls to the Deep State - they are scum for sure - but not the enemies we should be worried about.

The deep state is. Crooked politicians like The Obama’s, the Clintons and the Biden’s - they come, they destroy, and then they are gone. Even the crooked lifer Senators like McConnell will die eventually..

Yes, these elected officials who have betrayed the public trust need to be punished - but Trump is right to focus his attention on the real enemy that never dies: the vast permanent bureaucracy - the sprawling unelected Administrative State.

This “fourth branch” - this Administrative State - has grown to a size and power that far exceeds the legitimate branches of government - and it is totally unchecked - unaccountable to the people.

That is the real enemy of the Republic. Locking up Hillary would have been fine with me - but not if it distracts us from facing the real enemy.

If a snake sinks its fangs in once I’m not going to give it a 2d or 3d chance.

Real crimes tried before impartial juries and judges — yes. Don’t hold back.

Fake crimes tried before biased juries and judges — no. Even if the defendants are Democrats (sorry, Bannon).

Just plain justice will do. The only marching orders that need to be given to his cabinet in this regard is to Follow the Letter of the Law. All of the law and get it done quickly.

By the time the next election rolls around it will all be forgotten ancient history for most.
