How Trump Won With Hispanics
Real Clear Politics ^ | November 16, 2024 | Alfredo Ortiz

Democrats and liberal commentators are desperately trying to explain away one of the biggest shocks of the 2024 election: Donald Trump’s 46% share of the Hispanic vote, a modern-day Republican record and remarkable improvement over the 32% he received four years ago.

But their explanations demonstrate striking elitism and lack of self-awareness and accountability. For example, Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX), likely the next Congressional Progressive Caucus chair, chalked up Latino voter erosion to right-wing “misinformation.” Joe Scarborough, co-host of Morning Joe, blamed “misogyny” and racism from Latino men. Several pundits, such as CNN’s Jim Acosta, claimed Hispanics voted against their “self-interest.” And MSNBC’s Joy Reid accused Hispanics of voting against their race: “Y’all voted with … David Duke and against your …wives, sisters, and abuelas.” This kind of race essentialism – believing that Hispanics should vote solely based on their race – is the real racism, not the perceived slights the media obsesses over.... Our key finding: Hispanics have the same concerns as everyone else. Hispanics are just as concerned about their faith and families, the economy and inflation, crime, and the direction of the country as all Americans. President Trump spoke to these concerns far better than Democrats, and that’s the reason for his historic performance with Hispanics. And, it turns out, with Americans of almost all backgrounds.

At nearly 50% of the Hispanic vote going to Trump, the Democrats will soon loose their permanent grip on this group...."IF" the GOP were smart!

"IF" the GOP were smart!

Bingo. I'm not for "DEI" but it would be nice to have even more voters and representatives who hold fast to conservative values and signify this reality before the public.

The Hispanics are more pissed off about the foreign invasion than most gringo Americans are. Thank God for that! At least somebody cares.

Simple, they want to work and not have their families torn apart.

So what smart thing does the GOP need to do to pander to this group? BTW I am sick of f-— pandering. The Latin vote can vote or not vote for GOP based on POLICY, not on whether a politician likes low riders and burritos.

Promised that all their in-laws would NOT be allowed to move in as well.

Exactly, way too many Repubs that say things for votes and then go along with the liberal-lite cause du jour. Winning elections based on, “I’m not as nuts as my competitor!” is a losing strategy in the long game.

The elite progressives don’t want the invaders in their neighborhoods but do not understand why Hispanics do not want illiterate, illegal, diseased invaders in their communities.

Maybe so.... but food for thought: If the Hispanics (in particular Hispanic men who went for Trump 55% vs 45% for Kamala - i.e. over 10 points) had gone the other way, today we’d be whining and talking about a “President- Elect Harris”. Try to imagine how nauseating that would be especially from the MSM? The assumption that this demographic group has permanently shifted to the GOP would be a tremendous miscalculation which could lead to disastrous results in 2026 & 2028.

Hispanics tell me the illegals underbid them on all the jobs, concrete, landscaping, etc. They’ve told me that for 10 years and it’s obviously gotten much worse.

The men in the Democratic Party are seen as effeminate. I think that’s one of the reasons why Hispanics voted for Donald Trump.

Yeah, look at how Beto operated to get the Hispanic vote. How did that work out? Classic case of what not to do. Lily-white trust-fund baby takes on a Hispanic-sounding nickname and says, “I’m one of you, trust me!! I get you welfare and child-care and you no need no ID to vote, stick with me for more free stuff!” Jeez, what Hispanic wouldn’t be insulted by that?

No one has mentioned it yet, so I will: Trump historically had a Latino give a speech in Spanish at one of this rallies.

Ivory Tower libtards still think of "Hispanics" as being one monolithic voting block.

It never occured to them that a 5th generation Tejano who speaks English at home, owns a successful HVAC business, with two daughters at UT Austin and a son in the Marine Corps might not have ANYTHING AT ALL in common with a tattooed Venuzuelan gangbanger who hopped the border last week and is currently breaking into houses.

They really have no idea that "Hispanic" is a vast, and largely fake, ethnic definition that they themselves created to divide us into tribes fighting for racial spoils.

It’s one thing to be for DEI, it’s another to allow unvetted comedians the likes of which stood up at Madison Square Garden and called Puerto Rico an island of garbage one week before the Election. That kind of tone deafness and unforced error, in THAT specific context needs to stop. FOR STARTERS. I’m not talking about censorship or political correctness, just basic awareness that it’s not just “white people” in the room you’re trying to win the narrative with!

Continue to do what Trump has been doing just like he has with the other groups he has been able to keep within the new Republican fold. This is more of a warning to the establishment RINOs in the party that are salivating at ruining everything Trump has done, over the past 8 years, the minute he’s gone from office....let that sink in!
