Russian president Vladimir Putin is facing an economic nightmare as the nation struggles to continue to fund his war effort in Ukraine.
Soaring food prices and depleted war resources have seen the Kremlin attempt to strike a balance between maintaining the war machine in Ukraine whilst ensuring domestic stability.
Currently, a kilogram of potatoes is at least 73% more expensive than at the start of the year, while the price of butter has increased by more than 30%, according to data released by the Federal Statistics Service on Thursday.
Russia had already experienced rising food prices before this years surge, as Western sanctions, including restrictions on imports, increased the price of staple items including milk, bread and fish.
Other areas have been hit too, with a 64% rise in inflation, mortgage rates rising to more than 28% and interest rates reaching a record high of 21% last month.
Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov has ordered an investigation into price increases and has pledged to provide a response to placate growing public disquiet.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev has also acted and demanded a daily monitoring of the food market and measures to stabilize the situation.

I often wonder what marc (paid troll) will do for a living when Trump ends the war and the billions we send to escalate that war?
Who will he shill for then?
Love me some Aldi’s.
Zactly.
“”including restrictions on imports, increased the price of staple items including milk, bread and fish.””
Surely they don’t import those items?????
“placate growing public disquiet”......They never used to have a problem handling that! The kinder, gentler USSR?
Finally Ukraine can stand on their own. Onward to Moscow and Putin’s head on a pike!
Food isn’t cheap in the U.S. either Marcy.
ho hum. Another British tabloid with yet another story about how its all doom and gloom for the Russkies and they’re about to collapse any minute now!
They’ve been saying the same thing for years.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I can imagine Soros will offer experienced online spam trolls new positions in other causes?
Looks like both sides are headed to negotiations.
Everything’s simply great in Russia, say the Putin trolls.
Walmart has them for under .20 each, either by the dozen or 18 count.
Hasn’t Putin died a couple dozen times already?
And it’s only a mile from my home...Rib Roast...$7.99/lb
About 42 cents per egg in USD in merry old London.
Keep calm and eat less, Sing with the Labour Party: "Rule Brit-Starmer, Brit-Starmer rules your craves...."
North Korea can help you, you blockhead!
Trump will dump Ukraine simply becasue they are instrangent. Zelinski has burned Trump since his first days in office, from the Russia Hoax to the two impeachments. Zelinski’s admission that he refuses to talk to Russia will result in his demise and that of his country.
Trump will announce shortly that if Ukraine refuses to “in good faith negotiate with Russia” then he will cut support for Ukraine.
Trump has stated two options.
One he would increase support for Ukraine, if Russia would not negotiate.
Two. If Ukraine would not negotiate in good faith, he would cut support for Ukraine to force them to the table.
Zelinski believes the EU will support in him the absence of the US and Trump. Without the US, the EU risks losing Article 5 of NATO if they decide to escalate the conflict against Russia.
Trump is probably secretly hoping Zelinski and Ukraine continues to give him trouble so he can play the Trump Card and let them wither.
Yeah, I think he's already shifting some of the more verbally-diarrhetic members of the "Putin is Hitler!!!" and "Trump is Hitler!!!" squads over to the new "Gaetz is Hitler!!!" and "Hegseth is Hitler!!!" teams...
I wonder if Trump will eliminate the economical blockades that OBiden put on Russia, and if so, if that will help them stabilize their economy. Anyone?
Good graphic! 😂🤣
