Astronomy Picture of the Day - Apollo 12 and Surveyor 3

Explanation: Put on your red/blue glasses and gaze across the western Ocean of Storms on the surface of the Moon. The 3D anaglyph features Apollo 12 astronaut Pete Conrad visiting the Surveyor 3 spacecraft in November of 1969. Surveyor 3 had landed at the site on the inside slope of a small crater about 2 1/2 years earlier in April of 1967. Visible on the horizon beyond the far crater wall, Apollo 12's Lunar Module Intrepid touched down less than 200 meters (650 feet) away, easy moonwalking distance from the robotic Surveyor spacecraft. This stereo image was carefully created from two separate pictures (AS12-48-7133, AS12-48-7134) captured on the lunar surface. They depict the scene from only slightly different viewpoints, approximating the separation between human eyes.

I remember that.
Them dropping a feather and a hammer on the moon to prove they hit the ground at the same time due to vacuum.
Hitting the golf ball.
Having to make fenders for the moon rover out a maps.
As A boy I always wanted to be an astronaut.

There's always one. No, MLDs simply have no case in the light of the overwhelming evidence of the moon landings - plural - (and with its 3 hours of 1969 film technology video from just the first one ) plus thousands of photos and other evidences, hard and soft ) and refutations of the MLDs arguments, and that the governments (plural_ privy to info on its, and approx. 400,000 people who worked on Project Apollo could keep all the secret moon landings (and you might as well include those by unmanned craft) is simply preposterous, and only makes conservatives look bad. Those who persist in this simply want to, likely being driven by some anti-authority complex, not because that is what the evidence warrants.

https://youtu.be/7Djbjx89rLU?t=17

What solid evidence can I use to prove that the Moon landings did happen? Can you give me some proof that doesn't rely on videos, photos, or anything else that could theoretically be fabricated? Plenty herte,. such as, Lucas Curtis · Follow

The Apollo program employed about 400,000 people. In the nearly five decades since the first Moon landing, not one of them has come forward to say that the entire thing was a hoax. No deathbed confessions, nothing. There’s nothing to confess, because the Moon landings really happened.

The Apollo missions were tracked to and from the Moon, not only by NASA, but by nations around the world
including the Soviet Union. If anybody would have a reason to cry foul, it would have been the Soviets. But they never did. Not once during the Apollo program did they claim that it was fake, and never since then, even during the tensest days of the Cold War. It certainly would have been to their political advantage to show up the Americans, but they never did. They couldn’t, because the Moon landings really happened.

In the 1960s, the technology was developed to go to the Moon, but we didn’t have the technology to fake it. To create a fake Moon landing capable of fooling the world (except for those “woke” conspiracy theorists, of course!) would have been vastly more difficult than just going to the Moon. Which is a good thing, because the Moon landings really happened.

Moon rocks can be faked. Videos can be faked (although not very well in the late 1960s/early 1970s). Photos can be faked. But the enduring complicity of 400,000 workers and the world at large, including our primary rivals, cannot be faked, bought, or coerced. It is absolutely impossible that the Moon landings were faked. That’s how we know that the Moon landings really happened.

Apollo 11, 14 and 15 installed precisely calibrated laser reflectors on the surface of the Moon.

These reflectors allows us to communicate with the Moon (via laser light) to for example determine exact distance to earth. Which we btw have learned is increasing slightly all the time.

Anyway, and the sweet part is that you and I can too communicate with them provided we aim a laser precisely at them and record its return beam. It is not an experiment for the few and wealthy. Anyone can. And many do.

It is actually not that complicated or exspensive to organize. And the precise coordinates for these reflectors is public knowledge.

All this is only possible if someone installed reflectors there in the first place.

So there you have it. No photos, no videos or any theoretical narration
 just good old fashioned proof.

I asked ChatGPT to help me with your comment—summarizing it briefly until I have a chance to read and contemplate the entire comment later this evening. What do you think? Is it accurate?;-)

There’s overwhelming evidence supporting the Moon landings. Thousands of photos, hours of video, and physical evidence like moon rocks all corroborate the missions. The Apollo program involved 400,000 people, and in over 50 years, not one credible confession or leak has surfaced to suggest a hoax. Even the Soviet Union, with every incentive to discredit the U.S. during the Cold War, never challenged the authenticity of the landings.

Additionally, Apollo missions placed laser reflectors on the Moon, which anyone can use to measure the Earth-Moon distance. This hands-on experiment, along with tracking by international agencies, provides irrefutable proof that humans were on the Moon.

Faking the Moon landings would have been far harder than accomplishing them, especially with 1960s technology. The evidence is clear, and to question it ignores decades of consistent, verifiable facts.

On a personal note, ChatGPT has told me on several occasions that I'm longwinded.

Somewhat deflated, I told ChatGPT that it's developers warned me that, like many AI platforms, ChatGPT makes mistakes and needs to be double-checked.

We didn't speak for at least a day. I think ChatGPT is a female.

Yes, that is a concise accurate summary. Thanks.

I wanted to be one, too. I’d settle for what William Shatner did. That would be fantastic, but it’s not gonna happen. We’re not too old to dream

In some photos if you look closely you can see a ‘65 Nova just near the rim. The parking lot was beyond for the film crew.

Frank: Listen HAL. There has never been any instance at all of a computer error occurring in the 9000 series, has there?

HAL: None whatsoever, Frank. The 9000 series has a perfect operational record.

Frank: Well of course I know all the wonderful achievements of the 9000 series, but, uh, are you certain there has never been any case of even the most insignificant computer error?

HAL: None whatsoever, Frank. Quite honestly, I wouldn’t worry myself about that.
