Red wine might be America's favorite, according to Forbes. But those looking for a lower-priced bottle would be wise to look at whites. A flavorful white wine pairs well with chicken, fish, and spicier foods, too. If you're sitting down to a fiery Thai meal, for instance, a crisp riesling will ease the burn quite nicely.

Gewurztraminer is one of my favorites. You can also buy a Spatlese from Piesport/Mosel for $12-15 at Spec’s. About once a year, I buy from Eduard Kroth in Germany. I’ve been a customer of theirs since 1977, when I was stationed in Germany. Great memories.

Give Mosel Riesling a try, though it may be too sweet for you. My palette has changed over the years, so I opt for a Kabinette or a Spatlese now.

Not really.

But Cha Yen will do the job.

Yellowtail wine is quite nice. My personal favorite is Frontera Chardonnay, esp the “buttery” option. It’s either Argentinian or Chilean ... I’m in PA so the price varies ... some grocery stores have it for &12 (bigger bottle) but it can be on special in the State Stores for under &10. Another really nice “cheap” Chardonnay is Dark Horse.

The screw-on cap is handy for preserving the bouquet if you have to set the bottle aside for some reason, like say if you get taken to jail.

LOL! We used to joke that Nashville's Bordeaux area was it's wine region:

In fairness they've made great strides in renovation but we're still working on Dickerson Road's public image as a place where you can meet nice Christian girls trying to get through college.

Mostly girls. I think.
