No, Trump Did Not Win in a Landslide—Nor Did He Secure a Mandate

As blue Western states and cities finish counting votes, it looks like the popular vote “landslide” projected for Donald Trump last week turned out to be a trickle. When all the votes are counted, he will end up with a margin of roughly two points over Vice President Kamala Harris. Presidents Lyndon Johnson in 1964 and Richard Nixon in 1972 won more than 60 percent of the popular vote; Ronald Reagan in 1984 won 58 percent. Those were landslides.
Don’t get me wrong, it was a
bad outcome for Democrats. Trump won all seven swing states, netting himself 312 Electoral College votes (to Biden’s 306 in 2020). Democrats lost control of the Senate; the GOP now has 52 seats, and will likely wind up with 53 when the race between incumbent Pennsylvania Democrat Bob Casey and Connecticut corporate titan David McCormick is finally called (provisional ballots are still being counted). It will probably hold the House, by a slim margin.
So yes, none of this is good news. But it’s not the top-to-bottom repudiation of Democrats as it first looked like, and the way to respond is not to launch a civil war within the Democratic Party. Unfortunately, that has already begun. Centrists blame the doctrine of “woke,” with particular ire for trans Americans (we see you,
New York Rep. Tom Suozzi); leftists say
Democrats abandoned the working class (we hear you, once again, Senator Bernie Sanders). Both positions are wrong.
Others point fingers at the Harris campaign. Meanwhile, much of the media hypes Trump’s win as a landslide, which would seem to validate his racist, anti-worker agenda.

Plenty to disagree with, but indeed, it’s not a landslide.
We again barely hold the Congress and barely got the Pres, going by popular and for electoral, still too much “blue” on there.
Just remember this. We have no serious”mandate” and it’s still apparent half the country is traitors. We got lucky.
Very glad to be so blessedly lucky, but it’s still cutting close. They will ever be nipping at our heels. Unless they really leave and disown citizenship as is sometimes promised.

They certainly do. It will be interesting to find out for those who think that, are deeply wrong. Of course they will blame trump.

Absolutely…including all sides. I have become convinced people need a king/dictator. Trump love, democrats in general, American slathering over stupid English “royals”…all convinces me.

Losers invariably find a favorable explanation for a failure.

Not just “slathering” over English royals but the whole celebrity (entertainment, sports, even “political” families!) culture that we give unthinking deference to proves that!

Absolutely correct. Reagan was a real landslide…as was Nixon 2nd term! Hell, Big Bush got above 400 EVs! Again, the legacy of Reagan there…sorry guys, no comparison.
Correction, though: Biden officially got 306 EV. So only a tad under this Trump. And a tad over Trump 16. Respectable but no blow-out.

Since it is the Electoral College that determines the winner, since POTUS Trump won 58% of the Electoral College votes, and because his tail coats swung the Senate and increased the house membership ....... FOLKS, this here is a

Perception is reality.
And in this instance, the reality is AmericaFirst has the progressive hogwarts tied in knots.
AmericaFirst honors God, Family, Community, Country.
In that order. And the demonic hogwarts are outside their minds trying to deal with it.

“Perception is reality.”
In 2020 the Democrats won by even less, a few thousand votes in close states, but they acted like it was a landslide. Some of their wishes they didn’t get, like DC and Puerto Rico statehood and packing the Supreme Court, but they got a lot done. We should do the same, go for it all.

He certainly has a mandate since he beat the lawfare, censorship, and lies and still won comfortably taking every swing state. After the outrageous behavior of the corrupt establishment he must ow clean house.

I hope this means dems will keep doing the same things; running on the same platforms.
I would even like to see the dems bring back Joe Biden and run him again in 2028.
