The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg said she is part of the working class on Tuesday, adding that she would not be co-hosting the talk show if she could financially afford not to.
Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts discussed a recent social media post from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) asking people why they chose to vote for President-elect Donald Trump, in which she received responses calling both her and Trump “outsiders” from the establishment of Washington, D.C., who care about “the working class.”
Co-host Ana Navarro suggested the next Democratic presidential candidate needs to make a name for himself or herself before running to gain recognition among voters. Goldberg then contended that Trump had been running “for 12 years.”
“I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me too, I work for a living,” Goldberg said. “If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here. OK? So, I’m a working person, and my kid has to feed her family, and my great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family.”
The co-host’s net worth is estimated to be $60 million. Additionally, her annual salary for co-hosting the show was reported in 2016 to be around $5 million to $6 million.

$60 million? Didn’t her hero, Zerobama say that at some point you have enough money?
Yeah, she’s just like us! (Eye roll)
Doesn’t eveyone have 5 mansions?
Would love to see her tax return.
60 million net worth? Depending how her money is invested, she could easily have a seven figure income from investments.
But she’s telling us she’s poor and struggling with her money?
She needs to see a shrink. Bad.
Then why does Caryn Johnson go through life using a stage name. I know zero normal people that do that. I call fraud.
the only thing Woopie has a hard time with is fitting through doorways
Hypocrisy is expensive if you want it kept quiet.
Well she did usta be a bartender
Oh, he didn’t mean for that to apply to himself or Whoopi or any of his political elite class.
That’s just for rich Conservatives who actually create jobs and stuff.
Indeed.
Poopie ... I mean Whoopi probably spends more money on her hair than most people spend on groceries every year.
Before it’s too late. Oh wait…
It’s all relative, of course. Can you imagine the size of her grocery bill?
If I was worth $60 million I would see my life as “hard time”. At least not when it comes to stocking the fridge or keeping the heat on.
Should be “wouldn’t see”.
Well, mops do cost money.
She bought a Challenger 600 Biz Jet from my employer in 1996.
If her entire family eats as much as she does $60 million might not be enough.
