I may or may not be guilty of taking a trip to my nearest Trader Joe’s at least once every week. It’s like going on a treasure hunt, except the treasure in question is a variety of delectable baked goods, crave-worthy snacks, and deliciously unexpected cheeses. Sure, it may be at least a 30-minute drive, but what’s a little distance when a pint of Salted Maple Ice Cream is involved?

Me too. I shop at Trader Joes and have some things from them that I like. But nothing on the Thanksgiving list for Trader Joes is ever on my list.

Thanksgiving is always when everything is homemade from scratch, everything. Even if someone else is hosting and my pick was to do/bring desert, I make the bake goods myself from scratch.

I wish they'd bring Pfeffernüsse cookies back.....

It was a long-standing holiday tradition for me... Until they discontinued them.....

I love Aldi’s after the holiday clearances. I bought a shopping cart full of spiral cut hams at 49 cents per lb. I ran them through the freeze dryer and packed them in mylar bags with O2 absorbers. Did about twenty of them, all around twenty lbs each.

I rehydrate them when I need ham and they taste like fresh baked.

I did the same with several turkeys, but I prefer ham.

Trader Joe’s is good for wine, both price and quality.

Trader Joe’s and Aldi’s are in the same shopping center real close to my house.

I made beef barley soup today. Froze 6 cartons. It's just me and my kids are out of town.

I make little pkgs for sandwiches or to use with eggs....and a HUGE pot of pea soup.

Are you feeding an army?? Or just teenagers.

I grew up poor on a farm, so we always put away the harvest. More a Hillbilly than a farmer, but we survived.

We constantly butchered, usually deer, pressure canned, dehydrated, froze, whatever was required.

I do it now as I enjoy it, and give it to family and friends.

Yeah.. tried em. Nephew manages an Aldi here in town. Not the same, or really even close, sadly. They use an icing instead of the powdered sugar….

I keep hoping some day….….
