In the Spring, Culver’s has Lake Superior whitefish, which is even better than their cod.

A Culver's recently opened up near me so I might check out their cod sandwich.
The restaurant does a very good job on everything, including customer service. It is a pleasure to eat there.
Bonefish is tops locally. Long John Silvers is still in biz? Not around here.
Like their ‘forefather’, Ivar in Seattle, they buy the cheapest cuts available [ usually one step above cat food ], spice them up, and sell for premium prices.
You’d have to work around or be in a cold storage facility to see what really goes on with fish products.
Guaranteed fresh seafood can be had directly from the fishermen - many online outlets - product is direct from boat, packed in leak proof boxes, dry iced, and flown to customer.
Then you have never never had fresh True Cod. Caught, cooked, eaten same day.

When I worked in Manhattan there was one (years ago) and the line for it went down the street. I thought ok, must be good, got on line.
I was so pleasantly surprised, it was real cod, and a good chunk of it and the batter was the best.
Yeah. Arthur Treacher was a real quality person to do that if you ask me.
Not sure Americans can(Atlantic). Bering Sea, they have a large quota system.
