State investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of the beloved Instagram famous P'Nut the squirrel.
The DEC is conducting an internal investigation into the controversial raid on Mark Longo's home, where both P'Nut and Fred the raccoon were seized and euthanized.
Despite Longo's claims that officers wore protective gloves, the animals were killed and decapitated for rabies testing after P'Nut allegedly bit an agent's hand.
'An internal investigation into the matter is ongoing, and we are reviewing internal policies and procedures to ensure we continue serving this core mission,' a DEC spokesperson told The New York Post on Friday.
State and local health departments, including the DEC, the state Health Department, and the Chemung County Health Department, have been tight-lipped about the rabies test results and the condition of the injured agent.

“Court records reveal that DEC Investigator Joshua Crain obtained a search warrant for the animals, citing potential illegal housing of a squirrel and raccoon. Notably, the warrant made no mention of rabies concerns. “
They stayed five hours, a typical over-reach by the government and disrespect of
animals like the police shooting dogs for barking.
Squirrels to not carry rabies.
The police state relies on a legion of petty bureaucrats willing to impose the will of the government. The Germans needed someone to service the trains and the crematoria you know. Officer Crain is one of those
Should have said Peanut was from Mexico, therefore he had protected status. By the way, where is peanut’s free money.
Because this went viral the bureaucracy is in CYA mode. It probably is in permanent CYA mode but it kicks in big time when there might be fallout.
We need to know who was the judge that approved the warrant.
Whoever he is, he inadvertently helped us win.
And one can be sure that there were many more hours spent a.) deciding to do it, b.) planning the raid, c.) running it by Legal, d.) choosing the team members, e.) practicing/dry-runs, etc. etc. etc.
This absurd event likely cost tens of thousands of dollars. This is not a concern for government agencies on a mission.
And at no time, apparently, did any of the individuals involved ask “What in the world are we doing? How about we just leave the damn squirrel alone???”
Peanut switched some votes, and probably got some people to the polls. This was a nearly perfect embodiment of all that people loathe about leftists/democrats.
One single squirrel changed American history.
The injured agent? What about the squirrel?
that bites...
Peanut and Fred were viral video champs and they were making their owners tons of money
The couple were also reportedly OnlyFans “ performers” who are making like $800k per month for their ahemm… “ online live performances”
Ahh… to be young, attractive and unburdened with morality or social norms in todays online culture…..
One of their “fans” in the great state of Texas got wind of how much money they were making, became jealous as heck and reported them to the NY authorities .
Exactly what for, I have not a clue.
But they descended upon this couples country estate ( reportedly purchased with cash in full made from their the first month of online live streaming ) with an obsessive vengeance usually reserved only for Melania Trumps underwear drawer and that was all she wrote for poor Peanut and Fred
Like to think there is a moral to this story but this is New York we are talking about and morals are in short supply in NY these days
….” One single squirrel changed American history.” …
Two actually, but I include the aversion to the VP pick.
We had honest citizens allegedly held at gunpoint by a SWAT team for five hours and their house ransacked based on an anonymous complaint about a pet violation. This isn’t about squirrels.
In praise of Peanut.
