A killer transgender pedophile who brutally raped a three-month-old baby is asking to be released from prison to attend an Indigenous ceremony.
Tara Desousa, 43, has applied to the Federal Court in Canada to have a decision by the Fraser Valley Institution that denied her 'temporary absences' overturned.
Desousa, then known as Adam Laboucan, was 15 when in 1997 she sexually assaulted an infant she was babysitting in Quesnel, British Columbia.
Due to the horrific nature of her crime, the baby had to undergo reconstructive surgery to repair injuries sustained in the diabolical attack.
During her trial she also confessed to drowning a three-year-old boy when she was 11, with her crimes seeing her labelled as Canada's youngest 'dangerous offender'.
In a filing in October, she said she first applied for escorted leave to attend a ceremony at the Anderson Lodge 'healing center for women' in August 2023.
The lodge is run by the Circle of Eagles Lodge Society, an Indigenous backed organization.
Speaking with The Canadian Press, CEO Merv Thomas said that he couldn't comment on individual offenders.
He added that 'a lot of people 'coming into our facilities are dealing with a lot of historical trauma'.
Thomas added that the society looks to take a 'holistic' approach to helping people heal through ceremonies.
According to the CEO the group 'leaves the final judgement to the creator', and that there are strict conditions and protocols in place for offenders.

When Law Enforcement refuses to uphold/enforce the law, then it is up to the citizenry to do so. That’s what it is coming too.
They can’t even get the Adam’s gender right.
Let him/her/it attend but must leave penis in a bottle at the prison.
