President Vladimir Putin says that Russia’s war economy is well balanced to supply both guns and butter, but the price of butter itself is now soaring as surging inflation distorts parts of the economy.
The price of a block of butter has risen by 25.7% since December, according to the state statistics service.
Reuters reporters found shopping bills showed the price of a pack of “Brest-Litovsk” high-grade butter in Moscow has risen by 34% since the start of the year to 239.96 roubles ($2.47).
“The Armageddon with butter is escalating; we wouldn’t be surprised if butter repeats last year’s situation with eggs,” economists on Russia’s popular MMI Telegram channel warned, referring to an earlier spike in egg prices which alarmed consumers.
The steep price rise has prompted a spate of butter thefts at some supermarkets, according to Russian media, and some retailers have started putting individual blocks of butter inside plastic containers to deter shoplifting.

The Nork’s talking points are Seoul’s entry point into arming Ukraine. Seould took great pains to remain neutral in arming Ukraine. However, normalization the week before the Brics summit with Russia and N.K., and then the Brics summit concluding and many former non-aligned, global south or third world countries were joining a trade block which outlaws participation in Sanctions. Seoul was invested in bankrupting Pyongyang together with the US. However, all those plans are gone. NOW there is so much money for Ukraine purchases left on the table, and no where for the west to spend it so now Seoul is going to directly send arms, equipment and anything they can in order to cash in before the Projeck is shut down. Seoul no longer has to maintain a delicate diplomatic dance with most of the globe; now they must sell all they can as quickly as possible to Ukraine before the money is deobligated. The North Korean’s are simply cover for Seoul to finally cash in without worrying about how the rest of their former allies, now joining Brics, would feel about about.
Washington and Seoul both need to get that money money moving and Ukraine needs ammunitions, esp. M155 rounds and tubes, personnel/ammo carriers and even tanks, all of which will be moving to Kiev paid for by the EU and US directly to Seoul.
