(Gray News) - More than 33,000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks are being recalled due to concerns over the stability control system.

Chrysler reported the trucks may have been built with damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings. According to a notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this can cause a loss of the wheel speed signal which could disable the electronic stability control.

NHTSA reported a failure in the electronic stability control system when it is needed could cause the vehicle to crash.

The recall impacts 2025 models produced between Oct. 13, 2023, and Aug. 11, 2024.

I’ve never been a car guy in terms of having a fancy or fast car, so long as it’s dependable, I’m fine.

I get the feeling that Stellantis aka Dodge/Chrysler is nearing a point where they don’t exist anymore.

We have a 2002 Ram 1500, 110k miles, runs great, just normal wear and tear problems over the years...............The original Chrysler MoPar battery lasted 12 years. When we took it in to the dealer to get a new one they said they would put that battery in their showcase................

RAM is not Dodge. Ram was a stand alone brand that is now defunct as Stellantes ends it.

The Dodge brand its self is said to be near defunct as well

Chrysler reported the trucks may have been built with damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings.

Wow. This is why I’m driving an 02 f350 superduty and will do whatever I have to to keep it on the job. This is why I saw a late ‘90s Ram 3500 with a pristine newly blasted and undercoated frame, brand new stakebed and new engine. Work trucks don’t have wheel encoder gizmos.

I have a 2016. At 38000 miles the steering gear went out. Ram generously split the $3000 bill with me. Not sure what I’ll do if I ever have to get a new truck. They’re all globo homo organizations. I think the quality of all of them are the same and it’s hit or miss with the exact vehicle you get.

Yeah 12 years for a battery is unheard of.....especially in the heat of our state.

2025 models produced between Oct. 13, 2023,

That seems a bit early to start making 2025 vehicles.

3 years is about all I get out of mine.....the exception was the wife’s lasting 7 years....I attribute that to the Germans being smart enough to keep the battery away from the engine heat by putting it in the trunk.

Really a 33k recall is kinda small......if they aren’t producing as many units per year that would move the schedule for next years models up.

A crew is need to go to Detroit and remove the automotive engineers heads from their ass so they can make a rear cars or trucks instead of a toy cars and trucks.

Half the electronic trash on new cars and trucks are for people who don’t know what to do with them without a light flashing on the dash.

Buzzers flashing lights tell them how to drive ding ding low tire.................................................

“for people who don’t know what to do with them without a light flashing on the dash”

Your talking about the idiot liberal across the street from me that once took his car to a tire store to repair a blown head gasket.....
True story.

For me, Dodge ceased to exist in 1977.
They took the Plymouth Duster with the 225 slant 6 engine in it -
one of the most reliable motors Chrysler ever made (could easily get 1 million miles
on one…) renamed the 2 door Duster the ‘Dodge Aspen’, switched it
over to run on unleaded gas (instead of leaded) and transformed one
of Detroit’s most reliable running cars EVER into an absolute price of crud / junk / trash.
Chrysler’s engineers just couldn’t hack getting the thing to run right on unleaded gas.
It would hesitate, sputter, stall…. it was an abject failure as a motor vehicle.
I considered Chrysler DEAD after that.

I have not bought another Mopar product since.

‘price’ = ‘piece’.

(Autocorrect was probably invented by Dodge…)
