Walmart workers say its impossible to lock yourself in oven like one where employee, 19, was roasted to death

Walmart employees have voiced confusion over the tragic death of a 19-year-old staff member inside a walk-in oven because they generally 'can't close' on their own.

In a series of TikTok videos, staff and former employees have been sharing insights into the inner mechanics of working inside a Walmart bakery.

It comes on the back of Gursimran Kaur's tragic death last weekend. The 19-year-old girl became stuck inside the walk-in oven of the store she worked at in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Her own mother, who also worked at the store, found her 'charred remains' inside after more than an hour of looking for her on the shop floor, a spokesperson for the family said.

'It doesn't make any sense,' a Walmart employee named Mary said in a TikTok video showcasing the oven.

'This door does not close by itself... It doesn't latch. It's designed not to do that. You have to push it, hear the click.

Mary demonstrated stepping inside of the oven and utilizing the emergency release from the inside of the oven, showing that it is a simple push feature on the other side of the door.

'I'm not trying to theorize or form a conspiracy, it's just hard to wrap my head around it when Walmart's bakery ovens are so safe to use,' she said in a comment.

Her video has been viewed 3.6 million times and sparked an outpouring of responses from other Walmart employees across the nation, who agreed that the oven should not have been able to close easily.

The pulp plant I worked at had lockouts that were actually set up to lock out the breaker with a physical keyed padlock. Whatever work you were doing on whatever, you put a padlock on the breaker that controlled the motor that could kill you if it got turned on.

There are even locks that you can put multiple keyed locks on. One for the electrician, one for the mechanic, one for the pipefitter, etc.

Yep....I know I’ve walked by panels in shutdown and there could be up at least 10 keyed padlocks all off one breaker.... You could have something like a 100 hp electric motor fed by a size 5 starter and that motor drives a whole series of people would be working on....

Who walks into a an oven, which is on? Who turned it on? She was murdered and her body was put in the oven to destroy evidence

In India, women who have violated the honor code (hint: adultry, etc.), have been known to “catch fire” by ignition of the gown they are wearing. Often this is an honor killing. Wonder if this is a variation of an honor killing.

This must be investigated by someone very familiar with their culture, but probably won’t be.

"Audio of the 911 dispatch call detailed the tragedy, with a dispatch officer telling first responders in the audio obtained by Daily Mail, "Female is locked in an oven in the bakery. Oven is on, unsure if the staff are able to turn it off."

A first responder on the scene noted in the audio that they shut off power to the oven, and that "the person was out of the oven upon arrival."

E! News has reached out to the Nova Scotia Emergency Management office for comment regarding the 911 call but has not heard back."
