There Is a Very Wrong Lesson to Take From Kamala Harris’ Performance Among Black and Latino Voters
Slate ^ | 10/19/24 | Ben Mathis-Lilley

Posted on 10/22/2024 1:36:52 PM PDT by DallasBiff

Why is Kamala Harris doing worse with Black and Latino voters than previous Democratic presidential candidates? That’s the campaign topic of the week after a New York Times/Siena poll found Harris winning only 57 percent of Hispanic voters—a step down from the estimated 63 percent that Joe Biden won in 2020—and 78 percent of Black voters, 15 points less than Biden’s estimated 2020 share. In the New York Times, David Leonhardt suggested an explanation for the disparity that echoes a centrist critique we’ve heard a lot over the past few years: The problem is identity politics, particularly on the issue of immigration.

According to Leonhardt, the Democratic Party is suffering because it has made “the wrong diagnosis of the American electorate” when it comes to race and ethnicity. Democrats, he says, assume that people of color constitute a homogeneous voting bloc whose loyalty can be best earned through acts that speak to their “racial identity,” like the 2022 appointment of a Black woman, Ketanji Brown Jackson, to the Supreme Court. (That’s Leonhardt’s example, not mine.)

I know from 3 days ago, but if Kamala is losing radical leftist Slate, she's in trouble.

That said especially if you are in a swing state, go out and vote for Trump.

Individuals don’t want to be treated simply like a member of a voting bloc. There are issues common to people of all races and demographics. Democrats have fractionated their base for so long that they end up pitting one special interest group against another. Since there’s no way to make everyone happy, they have to make choices about who to pander to and that never goes well.

RATs betray blacks after winning just like Repubs betray the conservatives who elect them. Same story, difference cast.

From the article in Slate, Ben Mathis-Lilley does his level best to explain that the "very wrong lesson" that
minorities are taking is that the immigration and economic mess they see is really all Trump's fault.

Trump needs to also win the national popular vote, or the Left will chant “illegitimate and undemocratic!”

Too many Blue State republicans stay home because they think voting is futile.

". . . Democrats, he says, assume that people of color constitute a homogeneous voting bloc whose loyalty can be best earned through acts that speak to their “racial identity,”

The author using the fig leaf of "people of color" is laughable and disenguous. Go on, tell us you're not only really truly speaking about black people, without telling us you're only truly speaking about black people.

I wonder if by "acts" he means generational welfare, affirmative action, white guilt reparations and free-abortion-as-a-means-of-birth-control, to describe black racial "identity" ? If that is the case, then he's accidentally not wrong.

And the only clear election-after-election black voting bloc are black women (95%+ Dem voters). Once again, the author is disenguous, a moral fraud and hypocrite, but accidnetally not wrong.

[full disclosure: I did not read the entire article]

This author seems to be arguing for denying reality, taking nothing away from polling data showing electorate concerns. He cites fantasy land talking points.

I believe the late William F. Buckley Jr. Rule applies; “We vote for the most conservative Republican candidate THAT CAN GET ELECTED, then strive to improve from there. Hogan, if elected will vote with Trump most of the time. We need him.

1) Vote early, as soon as available, regardless of what “color” your State might be.

2) Get all your patriotic friends to vote.

When an ultra liberal elitist like a Slate author writes their mind, you begin to understand why working class people who have not been indoctrinated in college by ultra liberal professors want nothing to do with them or their ideas.

“.....Maybe this is a case of boneheaded median-voter brain, akin to supporting lower taxes, higher spending, and a balanced federal budget. Or it could simply be an interest in seeing someone do something about an issue that has become particularly visible—an interest in knowing that things are being, in some sort of organized way, handled......”

Working people don't want to be lectured to or called boneheaded by the elite. Harris and the Democratic Party leadership are elitists and care only about power and not the quality of life of the average American. That is why Harris is loosing people of color.

I just got back from early voting in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

We have a Constitutional Amendment on the ballot that will restrict voting rights to USA citizens! This hasn't had a lot of press here. Don't know why this won't win in Idaho. If it wins, we can have the pleasure DOJ going after us for "suppressing the vote." (at least until Trump is inaugurated)

We also have leftist proposition to implement ranked choice voting. This should go down to defeat.

Outside the polling place was this sign!

That sign triggered me and I sure felt voter suppression and disenfranchisement for having to show my ID! (jk, folks).

There was a pretty long line at lunchtime today and I thought it would take an hour. But the registrar here is REALLY well organized and I was in and out in under 15 minutes. You have to show your ID. Then the poll worker returns it to you and, when she prints out your ballot, asks you for your name and address! I figured anybody cheating with a fake ID may fail that second little test.

FBI quietly revises crime statistics and reveals rise in violent crime [From -2.1 to +4.5 in 2022]
Washington Examiner ^ | 16 October 2024 | Brady Knox
Posted on 10/22/2024, 11:03:56 AM by Spktyr

The FBI quietly revised the U.S. crime statistics to show an increase in violent crime.

An investigation by RealClearInvestigations found that the FBI updated its 2022 crime statistics in September, showing that rather than a 2.1% drop in violent crime as originally reported, the United States actually experienced a 4.5% rise in violent crime. The new dataset showed thousands more murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.

The more than 6 percentage point change is unprecedented in recent FBI statistic reporting, William & Mary professor Carl Moody told the outlet.

“I have checked the data on total violent crime from 2004 to 2022,” he said. “There were no revisions from 2004 to 2015, and from 2016 to 2020, there were small changes of less than one percentage point. The huge changes in 2021 and 2022, especially without an explanation, make it difficult to trust the FBI data.”

The only announcement of the change was a single footnote in the 2023 crime statistic report, where the agency acknowledged, “The 2022 violent crime rate has been updated for inclusion in CIUS, 2023.”
