Susan Olsen who played Cindy Brady on The Brady Bunch has claimed that a 'woke' reboot of the series was axed over her conservative political views.
The actress, 63, lifted the lid on the scrapped revival - which would have included black and transgender characters - in an interview with the #WalkAway Campaign podcast this month.
Olsen said that the CBS network became interested in bringing back the iconic '70s series after the cast reunited for A Very Brady Renovation in 2019, which brought record ratings to HGTV at the time.
The planned revival was set to take some inspiration from the controversial Roseanne reboot by having the actors real life personalities and political views shape their on-screen characters.
Olsen explained that Cindy was going to be a Libertarian podcaster on the series, while Jan Brady, played by outspoken liberal Eve Plumb, would have a transgender child.
To increase the diversity on the all-white cast, producers also planned to give one of the Bradys a black spouse.
'I was hoping to continue what Roseanne Barr had set out to do, which I really liked,' Olsen shared.
'Her reboot had a family with completely different political opinions and in the end they all love and respect each other.'
However, Olsen's dreams were cut short when network executives at CBS discovered that the actress had been fired from a radio gig in 2016 for going on a 'homophobic rant.'
At the time, Olsen had used a gay slur in a private message to openly gay actor Leon Acord-Whiting, after he campaigned to have her fired from her LA Talk Radio show for supporting Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

All I can say is thank God the reboot was axed.
“”””which would have included black and transgender characters””””
How do those fit each other? Must make black readers feel great to have a writer lump them together.
TV viewers dodged another bullet.
MARSHA
MARSHA
MARSHA
Marsha still looks good in 2019.
It wasn't any slur. It's obvious why she got the boot.
AMEN!!!
They’d have to find a REALLY gay actor to play the dad.
“Must make black readers feel great to have a writer lump them together.”
I’ve had the same thought. For years the argument was that the new civil right was for gays. Gays were just like Black people. They are born that way and can’t help it.
It takes a while to figure out how many ways that is wrong. It’s true that we don’t choose our race. However, there is nothing of note here as race is irrelevant. Men do choose sodomy and there is something wrong with their choice.
I recall Charlton Heston’s comment about how there are far more closeted conservatives in Hollywood than gays.
In Hollywood?????????.............
I knew there was a reason why I couldn’t stand Jan, now I know why, she’s a big commie
I don’t know. It would have been great to see it fail after 1 or 2 episodes like all the other queerified reboots.
So there is a silver lining to this story after all.
Well said.
Now that’s funny
Many, many years ago, diversity was being forced on folks in my company. We had a gay manager as part of the “let’s all get along and understand each other” framework.
His first action was to say, “Let’s list some of the stereotypes about gay people that aren’t true.” “It’s a choice” was the first one. I interrupted immediately.
“It IS a choice”, I said. “You say things are hereditary, and we have no choice, but I come from a family where alcoholism is common. My father was an alcoholic, so that means my heredity says I am. But I CHOOSE NOT TO DRINK. So, you can say what you want, but there IS a choice to be made.”
The best he could come up with was, “Well, I choose not to be lonely.” And he quickly moved on.
She was actually a good chunk of the reason the original got canceled, that and Oliver.
I would not have watched anyway.
