In travel news this week: odd room service requests, the cruise passengers stranded for months at their departure port, plus how a rogue bag of Cheetos caused havoc in a New Mexico cave.
Unusual guest requests
Far be it from us to say folks are getting a little entitled, but a new report from Hotels.com has revealed the oddest room service requests made to its hotel partners around the world.
There’s the Evian-filled bathtub requested for a child’s routine scrub-up, and the customized allergen-free menu for a pet.
There’s the separate requests that were fielded for burnt toast, fresh goat milk and 2 kilos of bananas.

This is where I stop reading. “We all know flying comes at a cost to the environment and waste should be avoided”
Must they inject their BS at every turn?
Apparently
Bill: I'd like to special order a blue dress.
Stallwell: Be sure Fang Fang has a key to MY room.
Biden: My room has to be on the same floor as the the elementary school field trips staying here.
Kamala: Our nanny must have an adjoining room.
Walz: My room has to be next to the visiting football team's rooms.
I travel almost every week for work - the people who don’t travel very much are the best - I was checking into a Hotel in Dallas two weeks ago and a women asked the desk clerk “What comes with the room?” The clerk took a minute and said - well a bed, shower, TV...
My daughter worked for a short time in a resort hotel and they got a request for a hooker and some heroin. He was from Holland (Netherlands?) and was disappointed that was illegal here. He honestly didn’t know.
Yes, unfortunately.
Tell some.
A buddy’s son was working room service shifts. A big music star and her entourage (not TS) were on the top floor. They ordered 6 bottles of the most expensive vodka on the menu. Tipped the kid $5.
LOL!! Nice work there, TIR!
Are they paying for it?
That is not "entitled".
Demanding perhaps but not entitled.
Entitled is when you take something not because you have paid for it but because it is your "Right".
Now, totally crackers? Oh, yes.
But if you are willing to pay for it there is someone who is willing to let you have it.
When I worked for a hotel the rules were "As long as it is not illegal" and "get paid up front".
Sold one customer my hair bow. Right off my head. Granted it was cute but I would not wear something that had been on someone else's head. Not without a Lysol bath first. She stuck it on her head and went out the door. I shrugged and pocketed her twenty.
And yes, I would LOVE to hear her side of the story but I never did.
Which means my request for more towels made this list. Especially given the hotel had a big sign saying they want to preserve water to help the environment so if guests could use towels over and over it would be appreciated...not for what I'm paying for a room.
