Planting over 16,000 trees.
Increasing the tree canopy is a priority because trees provide shade, lower the ground surface temperature and offset carbon emissions by capturing carbon dioxide. For nearly two decades, Miami-Dade has struggled to reach its goal of 30 percent tree cover.
Gilbert explains that rampant development and hurricane damage have made meeting this a Sisyphean task. The fact that the county isn’t backsliding is an achievement, she insists—it’s currently hovering around 20 percent. This year Miami-Dade will invest a record $7 million in tree planting, with an emphasis on low-income neighborhoods, which tend to have the least shade.

Donald Trump has frequently mentioned the initiative to plant trees as part of his approach to addressing climate change. Notably, he expressed support for the One Trillion Trees initiative during a speech at the World Economic Forum in January 2020, where he emphasized the importance of this effort in combating climate change15.
In October 2020, he signed an Executive Order to establish an Interagency Council dedicated to this initiative, further solidifying his commitment to planting trees as a climate strategy36. Over the years, Trump has made various statements about the benefits of tree planting, although the exact number of times he has specifically mentioned “plant more trees” is not clearly documented in the available sources.
Overall, Trump’s rhetoric around tree planting has been a consistent theme in his discussions on environmental policy, despite his broader and often contradictory views on climate change itself12.
I thought Miami was supposed to be underwater by now
The anti-Global Warming crowd is planting more trees in Miami. When Trump gets elected, he should expand Federally sponsored tree planting across America. Make this a 2 billion dollar program.
This will get those Wacky Warmists out of our hair.
There are more trees on earth than stars in the galaxy. By orders of magnitude. Crazy fact.
Cause she’s in _____?
Uninformed group of stupid asses all in one place.
Who can argue against planting more trees to counter global warming? (Actually loony Bill Gates does and backs this up with his own brand of on the Spectrum logic...lolzzzz)
Take Leon DiCaprio and other private jet setting libs. They like to claim they are planting trees to counteract the CO2 emissions from their private jets. Leon etc will contract out with a tree planting NGO (undoubtedly with outlandishly high executive salaries) to plant trees in Africa or Timbuktu or whatever.
So good enough for Leon and his libby Hollywood crowd to buy their Global Warming indulgences, then good enough for DJT and Republicans.
Executive Order to establish an Interagency Council and this is the problem with government. There are already many private organizations that already do this. Buy them trees and let them plant them.
Trees are racist.
Let’s give the low-income neighborhoods their due.
Shady spots all over the place so folks can hide from the police.
What Bill Gates says about planting more trees to mitigate Global Warming. He has spouted about chopping down forests and burying the trees to decrease Global Warming, Do a search on this to find his logic>>>>>>>>>>>

Bill Gates has recently made headlines for his stance on planting trees as a solution to climate change. Here’s a summary of his position and the surrounding context:
Gates’ Criticism of Tree Planting
Bill Gates has called the idea that planting trees alone can solve the climate crisis “complete nonsense”13. At the New York Times Climate Forward Summit in September 2023, Gates expressed skepticism about tree-planting initiatives, stating:
“Are we the science people or are we the idiots? Which one do we want to be?”3
Gates’ Rationale
Limited Impact: Studies indicate that planting a trillion trees would only eliminate about 6% of global carbon dioxide emissions by 20504.
Time Factor: The full benefits of tree planting would not be seen for about 100 years when most new trees reach maturity6.
Preference for Technological Solutions: Gates favors carbon capture technologies and other tech-driven approaches to tackle climate change34.
Alternative Approaches Favored by Gates
Carbon capture technologies (crazy-stupid pumping of CO2 underground. The Biden administration has blown millions on some pilot projects)
Carbon taxes to fund green technologies
Investing in clean energy innovations
Supporting startups developing clean energy solutions34
Counterarguments and Context
While Gates’ stance has sparked debate, it’s important to note:
Holistic Approach Needed: Many experts argue for a combination of nature-based solutions and technological innovations to address climate change7.
Trees’ Additional Benefits: Trees provide benefits beyond carbon capture, such as improving air quality, cooling urban areas, and supporting biodiversity5
.
Ongoing Research: The effectiveness of large-scale tree planting for climate mitigation is still being studied and debated in the scientific community2.
In conclusion, while Bill Gates acknowledges the importance of addressing climate change, he believes that relying solely on tree planting is insufficient and potentially distracting from more effective technological solutions.
Given that the “climate” temperature(s) have wandered up and down *quite a lot* over hundreds of millions of years . . .
What exact specific numerical value (in deg. Farenheit) is the temperature supposed to be?
What is the exact specific numerical diameter (in meters), that “the Ozone Hole” must be?
What exact specific numerical limits (in meters) must the “sea level” of the ocean be?
What exact specific numerical rate of velocity in meters per minute, must the earth rotate at the top of Mount Chimborazo?
(Mount Chimborazo is the highest peak that is close to the equator.)
“trees provide shade, lower the ground surface temperature and offset carbon emissions by capturing carbon dioxide”
All true but it fails to address the stupidity of replacing millions of acres of green plants with solar capture panels.
What is the “mass balance” of CO2-capture/mitigation of ONE tree versus ONE solar panel; NOT taking into account the manufacturing emissions.
Does that justify replacing an entire productive grain field with solar panels?
Planting trees is a positive thing for urban areas. Trees clean the air by absorbing particulate matter on their leaves and bark. They help reverse the urban heat island effect by shading concrete and asphalt. They add oxygen to breathe and what’s not to like about any of that.
Trees don’t sequester carbon not in a geological time or even human time scale. Once the tree eventually dies it will be decomposed by fungi, protozoa and bacteria right back to co2 and water with some methane to boot. The only way to keep that carbon out of the carbon cycle is to put it somewhere that decomposers cannot get to it or are inhibited from living. You could cut the trees down and dig up their roots which have roughly half the mass of the whole tree in them. Take those to a sealed pit or mine and cover them with salt large amounts of salt or use a salt mine. The salt keeps anything from living so nothing can decompose the trees this would lock away the biomass for millions of years. Otherwise it’s just temporary holding the carbon from the carbon cycle and well you get pretty trees lots of shade, fruit or nuts if you plant the right trees so not at all bad in the end.
Right, this is how it's done and monitor their (NGOs) performances. Having lazy-arse / DEI/ fake working from home / Federal employees administer massive tree plantings would be a disaster.
Same as Biden/Dems were given 6 billion to set up EV charging stations across America. And have gotten nearly none built.
Our billions of acres of fields of wheat, soy, corn etc. are taking in CO2 and exhaling O2 all the time, These fields counteract mythical Global Warming. Just by growing food for us to eat. And cornfields supplying corn to make into ethanol.
Trees are great. I’m a big fan of trees. We need more beautiful trees.
Man-made global warming is bullshit.
I thought Bill Gates wants to cut down trees to save the world.
Now they want to plant trees?
