Kremlin says its mutual defence agreement with North Korea is 'unambiguous’

Russia said on Tuesday that a treaty it signed with North Korea earlier this year provides for "strategic cooperation" in all areas, but declined to be drawn on how a mutual defence clause in the agreement could be put into practice.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the treaty with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un when he visited Pyongyang in June, and said it included a mutual assistance clause under which each side agreed to help the other repel external aggression.

Asked if this meant that Russia could be drawn into backing Pyongyang in a conflict on the Korean peninsula or that North Korea could side with Russia in a conflict with the West, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the treaty wording was "quite unambiguous" and needed no clarification.

The pact "implies truly strategic deep cooperation in all areas, including security", Peskov told reporters.

Translation: North Korea will be sending their troops and equipment to Ukraine. Putin must be feeling some internal pressure related to his catastrophic adventure in Ukraine and needs to dial back Russian casualties.. North Korea will now provide the cannon fodder required. Who knows what the real payoff is for NK. This is all supposition on my part, but psychopathic thugs usually support each other if the payoff is large enough.

I made the same observation yesterday.

Missing the big picture here

The Russian Defense minister today is in Beijing for strategic consultations, after a huge red carpet welcome

The Chinese Navy and Air forces launched a huge exercise and as of today have completely surrounded Taiwan in a ( future?) plan to seal off and take the island

NK has mobilized units on the DMZ - in a US conflict with China they will launch their own action to tie down US, ROK and Japanese forces on the peninsula…and Russia will back them

While “ nothing may happen” it all gives a situtation of reflection for the US, of what may happen in Asia, should our crack Biden team decide to join Israel in an attack on Iran.

For the Chinese…this is the weakest US president and security team they might hope for in a decade, should Trump be elected and replace them

The pieces are being arranged on the chess board

The next question regarding NK troops in Ukraine might be, “Wonder how many will seek asylum?”

I read the headline as: “Kamala says her mutual defence agreement with North Korea is ‘unambiguous’”.

And that wouldn’t phase most Democrats.
