Just how did the US Navy's ship builder fail so epically? and why is the Navy still praising the company that allowed this to happen?

I'm Paul US Army Combat veteran let's talk about it..."

Thing is every weld made is inspected and signed off by said inspector.

Could be just plain old laziness. Do the minimum, and get to the break room just that much faster. I wonder if the truth will ever come out.

Neither welders nor inspectors are doing their job

Could be just plain old laziness.

Could be, but based on the number of welding career video shorts I now see online, the industry is dealing with a shortage of talent and their fantasy idea that Didn't Earn It (DEI) hires were going to bridge that gap has clearly run into issues.

Don’t they X-ray or radiograph every weld?

These faulty welds were either knowingly made, or unintentionally made. Which is it?

“ Don’t they X-ray or radiograph every weld?”
*************************************

One would think so on important things such as submarines and other warships.

Now I can see why Elon Musk would NEVER use Newport News Shipyard to weld those high quality stainless steel cylinders together to make his rockets. He has his own people do his building.
